Among others, also love Underground Resistance, M-Plant, CLR, Drumcode, Warp etc but the Ostgut crowd are def the most exciting at the minute and have been for a good few years now.

Saw Klock and Dettmann b2b in Leeds a year ago. Pretty damn crazy. Toured Berlin a few times too...though I'll admit my memory of who played is patchy at best. You can guess why. Crazy scene.

Hah, yeah Berlin's a crazy place, but there's nowhere really like it. I'd love to move there

Nearly every post is full of greats artists. The OP would do well to listen to all the suggestions. Even myself, as there's large parts of electronic which i haven't really touched the surface with really..

I'll add a couple which i don't think were listed but may have been. But i'll say again if they are for the benefit of others...

Daft Punk (discovery and homework two of the greatest and not forgetting their live albums). One of the greatest ever.
Jamie xx - His solo stuff, remixes and stuff with Gil Scott Heron is superb. Amazing producer.
Julio Bashmore - Brilliant producer and dj. Au Seve and Battle for Middle You two of the best dancefloor songs of the past couple of years. Ask Yourself an example of something completely different and chilled amongst most of his other material really.
Modeselektor - Amazing producers and djs. Very original stuff, and a nice mixture of different types.
Burial - Surely been said, one of the greatest ever.
Aphex Twin - Likewise with Burial, except greater as he has far more material as he has been around for longer.
Orbital, Leftfield, Underworld - Staple 90s dance music in a similar vein to the likes of Chemical Brothers for example. Some of the best music to see live EVER.

Enough for now. Just a few all time favourites, and recent favourites. Not great descriptives why they are all good but hey-ho it's the music that does the talking.

So i've recently been getting into electronic music such as crystal castles, m83, aphex twin and SBTRKT. Could anyone give me some similar recommendations?

(Already suggested Purity Ring, but you HAVE to see their live shows to fully enjoy their music):

Electronic music is such a wide area! so im going to post some ideas here to hopefully inspire you. Like some, dont like some. At the end of the day its here to give you some tasters (we dont know what we like untill we hear it right?) Im not going to put loads, but heres some, i hope it broadens your mind. Anyways without further chatter we can start out with my personal fave genre...

Trance (Note: I like fairly heavy trance so thats what I will link here.)

^Best Mellody Ever. Go to 40 sec.

Something to make you facemelt (GOA Trance):

D'n'B (Note: Again I preffer harder tracks with bigger drops, I will put a time under each vid so you can locate the drop)

1:30 If you ever wanted to know the meaning of heavy..you can feel this push on your body. Amazing with a good sound system

1:30 again, heavy drop, gives me the shivvers.

    1:20

    Some lighter DnB

    Techno:

Tech house (since i like it most)

Electro House/Dirty Dutch (I hate it but i will put it here anyway):

Some Seriously old school (1992 NYE) DJ Seduction, Beautiful set, well worth a listen)

well i think that will do for now, someone else feel free to carry it on.

    Enjoy!

Also love m83 and crystal castles, best ever live.

In terms of m83: Grimes, Chromatics and Hot Chip follow the pop synth-based style of music that they use (although in obvious different ways, but they're comparable in certain aspects).

Sbtrkt is more down the dj route of electronic music: Disclosure tour with sbtrkt and are interesting and they were both really good live.

Crystal Castles I find are pretty unique and I haven't really ever found anything to relatable to them.

Anyway, more to the point, here is a list of pretty awesome electronic artists who you should definately check out - excluding the above mentioned who you should aslo check out - from a wide variety of different electronic backgrounds (* represents main priority):
