Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture? It's something you simply hide and share only with trusted friends. And by the time you're hitting your mid-20s, if you're going into a professional career, you have to make decisions about what you value.(Original post by spazman21)
Since, moving to university, I have managed to seek out a drug culture that has for a long time fascinated me, that is psychedelic drug culture. In one semester of university, I've been able to satisfy my desire to try psychedelic drugs, which, in the past, I was not able to satisfy due to not having friends who were interested in more than alcohol/weed and the odd other illegal drug (on rare occasions).
I've had the opportunity to try conscious-altering substances from LSD to DMT to 25i-NBOME to hydrocodone and cocaine, although I have primarily focused on the psychedelics.
How do those who identify themselves with a drug culture feel about their position in a society which doesn't readily except such lifestyles and do those people ever feel distanced from conventional society; or, as it is in my case, sometimes feel better off for living the drug induced lifestyle. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?I think thats to expected with HBW and Morning glory though isnt it? Nausea and body load would ruin a trip for me too.(Original post by spazman21)
Yeah, I took 600 morning glory seeds a few days ago for the first time and all I got was nausea and an unpleasant body load, and 600 is considered a pretty sizable dose.
One of the most disappointing trips I ever had.... can't think what went wrong though. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?Yw. It's kinda good to get that in the open.(Original post by GottaLovePhysics! :))
Wow, well let me start by saying thank you for taking the time to share that. Im sure it wont just be me who finds that a very intresting trip report. Its just so odd how we can have completly diffrent experiences on psycadelics..(Even though I also had a bad time on LSA, but im not simply going to blame LSA over any other psycoactive)
Telling your friend was a brave move as not many people understand whats going on when people are on such drugs and our fear of what they may think of us while tripping can actually cause a bad trip.
The first part of your story made me smile though...its quite amazing isnt it? You can read for days about what tripping is like but to actually do it and feel what it feels like...you can never be truly prepared. Watching your bathroom melt away and seeing the carpet strech into the sahara desert, where each grain of sand turns into a miniscual water droplet before cohesing together in an instant to form the sea in which you drown in...its just hard to explain. It makes you realise why so many great artists and musicians have used the drug.
This may seem an odd question to some but are you glad you still tried it? I only ask because I know some people who have had bad trips but gained somthing from it. You did say you feel more confident but I wonderd if there was anything else?
Indeed, that's kind of why I believe that it's impossible to completely prepare for LSA/D etc, since everyone will have a different experience. My friend was doing some too, though it had revealed no effects in him. But since he was experienced he was great for guiding me through it. Though he admitted his jealousy that what I got on my second time is something many trippers never get at all.
Another interesting effect was clarity and understanding. I started reading random Wikipedia pages regarding certain chemicals and difficult concepts, but I totally understood every word that I was reading. Evidently Hawking, Curie, Einstein etc were all trippers.
Hmm, sorta. I'm not really sure if it was good yet or not. I'm still really trying to discover what it led me to find. Other positives? It has had an almost epiphanical (idc if it's not a word) effect on my life. Things just seem so much more interesting and clear. But it has the downside of nihilism too. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?Everything really. But if I had to place it one reason it would be severe lack of preparation beforehand. I knew NOTHING about ego death.(Original post by g_star_raw_1989)
Was it the loss of identity aspect of ego death that made it horrid?
Thus, obviously, in hindsight it was incredibly stupid to take a psychadelic with barely any knowledge of the effects beyond "oooo, pretty colours". -

Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?Aldous Huxley was another popular writer who people dont realise is also a tripper. He wrote a whole book about his 10 Hour trip on Mescalin (On my to do list(Original post by HarveyCanis)
Yw. It's kinda good to get that in the open.

Thats a problem with hallucigenic drugs. For 2 - 8 hours you absorb an insane amout of infomation and have a thousend thoughts but a few hours later when your back down to Earth you will be left with the thought "What on Earth just occured".
They are a powerful tool and its a damn shame only a handful of people understand.
Nice to have a positive chat on tsr for once and hope that the nihilism dosnt get you too down

Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?Ugh legal psychedelics. It seems the only reason they are legal is because they arnt good enough to have a broad appeal.(Original post by spazman21)

Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?
I don't take drugs, but a lot of my friends regularly smoke weed(in fact there are several drug dealers in my school) and the occasional gram of cocaine.
My best friend also takes the odd supereccie and my other friend regularly takes speed.
None of them are addicts though. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?Yeah, I suppose if you knew nothing about it then can be a traumatic experience. However, it can be a positive experience if you're prepared for it as best as you can.(Original post by HarveyCanis)

Ego death is I believe what Buddhists seek to achieve or at least transcend the ego through mediation. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?yeah i admit i had to read it twice to figure it out lol(Original post by GottaLovePhysics! :))
Glad you understood. You can imagine how many people read that post and think "Duuuuhh?"
But yea its pretty astounding. How humiliating for the war on drugs...
yeah definitely one of the most interesting things ive come across in a while. i was more surprised by the fact that (from what i read of it anyway) it seemingly has not been invaded by scams or fraudsters.
has anyone had any spiritual/religious experience while 'tripping', im interested as to how god is portrayed through trips (if at all) -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture? It has an absolutly thriving community that disscuss seller and their products. Honestly the fourm there must have fifty new threads a day.(Original post by ugk4life)

But people do get scammed on it. Recently there was the tony scandel. A trusted seller had been selling to people succesfuly for months. He did a 420 half price sale, which ofcourse generated him hundreds of orders. He asked people to "finalize early" to release their payment to him and he vanished!
Hmm...Well I know for a fact MANY people have had a religious experience. There are page after page of trip reports discussing spirituality and god on the internet. Personaly what I felt did seem spiritual, but when most people think of spiritality then think: god, afterlife, etc and its much more than that. So no, god was not portrayed in my trips. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?lol at the tony scandal, although i imagine it was not funny for those involved!(Original post by GottaLovePhysics! :))

yeah the spirituality side interests me, especially when connected to things like ego death and suchlike occurrences. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?
Yeah I regularly do ketamine and weed, MDMA, psychedelics and other drugs occasionally. I really enjoy doing drugs and they're a big part of my life. I've had good and bad experiences and I've learnt so much from them. Just don't let them **** you up too much.
-
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?the thing about ketamine is that even if you were absolutely out of your ****ing mind and convinced of the most insane stuff, you'd be so sedated that you're in no position to do anything about it. All you can do is just lie there until you come back to the sober world.(Original post by HarveyCanis)
I had an awful experience with Morning Glory seeds, which put me off psychedelics for life. However the idea of Ketamine terrified me even when I was still fascinated; the idea that you can't distinguish reality from illusion is worrying for me. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?
Hope you don't mind me reviving the old(ish) thread.
Doing my research on psychedelics (mostly LSD) they seem fascinating, offering a discovery and exploration that I can't seem to find elsewhere (and the discovery and exploration that made me interested in science after weed showed me that's what life's about ^^). But I am kinda worried about bad trips and bad experiences, as someone who's fairly anxious and self-aware (aka insecure) already. And the several hour commitment, need for people/sitters and a place to chill, etc, seems a little difficult too.
I know DMT is considered the final boss of psychedelics, but it seems probably the most interesting now, with its short trips and role in nature encouraging. There's something called changa, available on previously-mentioned trade route, which is a mix of DMT and some herbs to be smoked slowly (not necessarily vaporized), giving a longer but more mellow trip that can also be better measured out (so I can start slow). That seemed pretty interesting. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?did we just revive the same month-old thread at the same time?(Original post by SnoochToTheBooch)

Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture? It depends on how you want to find it.(Original post by ugk4life)
hi guys, interesting thread. ive been reading a bit about dmt recently and am pretty intrigued.
how common and easy to find is it?
this is the video/song which sparked my interest, you guys may find it interesting.
5meo-dmt - the designer drug which is more potent than normal dmt flits around a bit, but it's still pretty rare and its quite expensive.
DMT itself is still rare in a pure, form.
DMT however is present in quite a few perfectly legal plants. So if you googled it, I'm sure you could find some plants and do an extraction on them. Which is perfectly legal. -
Re: Does anyone on TSR identify themselves with an illegal drug culture?Ah yeah, that was probably me as I read through the thread. Guess it wasn't so much of a coincidence after all :P(Original post by SnoochToTheBooch)
something I said got thumbs upped, that's how I got here
