The TSR Eurovision vote 2012!The (semi-)official TSR Eurovision vote 2012!
Ladies, gentlemen, and all members of TSR. I am proud to announce that as of this evening, The Student Room has officially become a European nation. I'm sure this may come as a great surprise to many (including most European diplomats perhaps), but it is absolutely the case that we're a country now. And this totally isn't just some silly way to become a part of the Eurovision Song Contest. Absolutely not.
Unfortunately, it was a little too late to organise a TSR Eurovision entry, but you can still decide who TSR gives douze points to tonight by joining in with the TSR Eurovision vote 2012!
How it works
One vote per user per song -- we're checking!
Give each act a vote out of ten when "Vote now!" appears next to their country. You don't need to specify which act you're voting for in the post. Simply add in your vote out of 10, e.g. 7/10, and give whatever witty comments you can think of.
What is this?
It's a little experiment built by TSR developer Dez, based off "Nul Points", created by Tom Scott and maintained by Matt Gray. You can follow all three of us on twitter: @deains, @tomscott and @unnamedculprit.
How do I vote?
Just post in this thread with a score out of ten, e.g. "That was amazing! 8/10". You can vote from 30 seconds into the song until the next song starts, with a few seconds' leeway. To be sure of your vote counting, post immediately after the song ends. You can put the rating anywhere in your post, but make sure you only rate the song once per post, and don't use decimal numbers or any other funny stuff.
What do Rating and Controversy mean?
Rating gives songs from zero to five stars depending on how they've scored. It's not tied to the actual scores -- a lot of songs will end up in the middle around 5 or 6, so the star ratings are stretched out a bit. Controversy measures the standard deviation of the results -- how divisive the song is. A high controversy rating means that opinions were divided.
Is this official?
We're not affiliated with Eurovision, the EBU, or any broadcaster. This is simply a bedroom project from a TSR staff member, and nothing else!
Can this predict the result?
Let's find out!
It's broken!
Try refreshing the page. You can also view the widget in a separate window. If you find something's not working properly, post a visitor message to Dez, please don't post on this thread about it.

Re: The TSR Eurovision vote 2012!Basically I adapted the original program, which pulled votes from Twitter, so it could grab votes in from TSR instead. It's been a fun afternoon of hacking, hope it all works.(Original post by vienulo)
Should be interesting. What does 'based on' mean?
