Re: Bill Maher end of documentary speechTypical emotionally laden speech designed to insult those who follow religion and somehow elevate atheists above everyone else, as more "rational", "logical" and "intelligent".(Original post by hannaaahlima)
Although the images and the song make it a bit over the top, this speech pretty much summarises my views on religion.
What do you think?
He has a good few points, but ironically he says that we don't know about the afterlife, but he states unequivocally that no gods talk back to those who pray.
I do like Bill, though.
Say we take his point on George Bush praying. Well, why exactly is that any worse than another person sitting in a room and just ruminating about the issue? Believing in God, or the gods, doesn't somehow make a person less rational or stupid. Nor does it actually give them an excuse to do whatever they want. Stupidity isn't the sole domain of the religious and intelligence isn't solely in the hands of atheists. -
Re: Bill Maher end of documentary speechHylean got it spot on, Bill is always doing that though, it's not much of a surprise. I like Bill as a comedian too.(Original post by Hylean)
