Desk + Chair for studying, where did you buy yours from?I need to buy a comfortable chair (and maybe desk) for my room, not wheely one as I have carpet and don't have the space either. Just to study on as I have a computer room in my house. Could someone recommed me a not too expensive one?
My furniture is all caramel coloured wood although it doesn't have to match perfectly lol.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Desk + Chair for studying, where did you buy yours from?Oh lol, does it take up a lot of room, I have approximately 100 x 150 (cm) room for chair and desk, currently have desk that I can pack away lol, and my chair is rather sad looking one donated from by my cousin.(Original post by Colbert)
In fairness mine is wheely but on carpet it won't move.

Re: Desk + Chair for studying, where did you buy yours from?Did it come in a flatpack and how much was delivery?(Original post by _OliviaTheOwl)
just get a wheely one, some of them have stoppers which allow the wheels to not be wheely.. if that makes sense lol

Re: Desk + Chair for studying, where did you buy yours from?IKEA has some fairly good desks or you could just buy a worktop and bolt it to your wall.(Original post by Khodu)

Chairs, the best thing to do is to visit the store and sit on some to find out whether you'd be comfortable on it.
I currently use this particular chair from IKEA :-
Am not too pleased with it as I find the seat base to be rather uncomfortable when compared to the chair I have at office. Also it is a bit squeaky. But I do like the meshed seatback as it has a very comfy feel to it especially if the room is warm. -
Re: Desk + Chair for studying, where did you buy yours from?
You could get a floor protector if you still wanted to use a wheeled chair on carpet. It's just a big sheet of plastic like this http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/44881100/.
Personally I have a bog standard white IKEA desk and a wheelie chair my dad got from work. I would advise going to IKEA because they have a really big range and you can try them all out in the showrooms. It's hard to tell without looking what material to get, whether you want armrests etc. -

Everyone keeps mentioning IKEA, I'm so tempted, is it easy to commute to via public transport? Looking at the London stores, none of them are close to where I live. My current desk, which probably looks like it belongs in a bin somewhere actually is pretty good as it's got two sides which I can fold in and doesn't take up too much room. Just is one ugly thing which was my dad's when he was in school, MANY years ago lol. But I'm not sure if people make stuff like that anymore.
My sisters going to be moving out (whom I share my room with) withing the next year so I don't want to buy new stuff til I sort out my bed and whatnot. The wheely chairs are starting to grow on me and can be another seat for my friends when they come round as most of them opt to sitting on one of my floor cushions...Last edited by Khodu; 27-05-2012 at 20:20. -
Re: Desk + Chair for studying, where did you buy yours from?Personally I always go with my parents by car ! They do have decent transport links - some even have special shuttle buses just for IKEA. If you pick your nearest store they all have information for that individual store http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/ikny_splash.html(Original post by Khodu)

If you are just getting the chair you might be able to carry it back on public transport. Otherwise you can get it delivered for a small charge - about £15 I think. -

As for bringing it back, it is easiest to just have it delivered if you are going by public transport, it's quite reasonably priced and you get it the next day.
Thank you in advance.
