Ohh right fair enough. Yeah the first 3 chapters are fairly straightforward. The last part of the last chapter can be tough to get your head around - dynamic programming from a table.
    Cant wait :P

I just want an A in this.... even if its just 80!!

What other math exams have you done? Are you in Year 12 too?

Haha! I'm hoping for 90+, worked pretty hard for this, but would be really happy with 80 all the same.

Just did S2 on Thursday, and that's it, I finished Maths in January so only had D2 and S2 to complete for AS Further Maths. I'm in year 13, what maths exams have you had/have left?

I'm sure you'll get it! I have noticed that the grade boundaries have been rising every year, and this worries me! :P

I did FP1 in Jan, and have done D1 and S1 so far this season (did C1, C2 M1 in Y11). I've got D2, C3 and C4 left! Do you think I'll be able to get an A in D2?

I do hope so! Yeah, it worries me too, but exams taken in June tend to be easier to get As on than the ones taken in January. For the 4 that I sat in January, the grade boundaries were horrible, if I'd done them in June I probably could have done slightly better UMS wise.

It all depends how much work you put in from now until the exam. The content isn't too hard, there are some tricky bits, but apart from that it's just learning how to do long algorithms, as the questions are all like 10 markers! By the fact you did your AS in Maths in year 11 it's safe to assume you're relatively competent at maths so you should be okay. If you get stuck, post your questions in here and I'll try to help you, and I'm sure others will too.

Yes OMG! FP1 was 69 for an A! I got 70, and the UMS was 83, I was SOOO annoyed!

I hope you're right. I'm literally hoping to work my socks off. Does this sound like a good strategy - I'm reading through each chapter, making notes, doing the example questions so i can see all the steps, and then doing an exam q on that chapter before moving on to the next. Hopefully will be done with that by tomorrow, and will start doing past papers....?

Another module which is suffering from the unreal increase in grade boundaries, and with my luck, it will be even higher for thursday's exam!

Old spec papers adapted to new specthe answers are contained within the documents after the questions, I have also included bits from the mark schemes you may need
Hi Just wondering if there is a problem with the file for the 2005 adapted paper, it's just it won't open on my computer?! Thanks

    Hi all

June 2011, Q4, Game Theory... how do you know which vertex to pick to represent the probablity? And what do the vertices represent, probabilities, or the value of the game?

Simplex and Flows were switched from D1 to D2 in the current spec, to balance up the modules.

So I have taken the old D2 papers and added the Simplex/Flows questions from the D1 papers that session / year.

are you referring to the well graph?

shade in from the bottom of the well until you hit the lines (think the fill option in MS Paint) - the highest point shaded represents the best strategy for the player whose pay-off matrix you have been solving.

Solve the simultenous equations on the equations of the lines which intersect, this will give you p, sub back into either of the equations to find the value of the game.

Yeah them grade boundaries sucked, I got 68 or 69, which got me 79 UMS, wanted around 90.

That should be fine, make sure you cover every section in the chapter though, as there are lost of little things which could help you. For instance in the allocation problem chapter, they can ask you to maximise as well as minimise. They can also get you to formulate them as LP problems, and they can give you a cost matrix with missing data.
