I'm not sure which to get?
I'm kinda leaning towards the 4S ATM as I'm used to typing on an iPod (which I just sold).

Personally I'm a great lover of iphones. I got my iphone 4 because I couldn't help thinking that my ipod touch would be the perfect gadget if only it had a camera and could make phone calls, send texts and have 3G. Now I have it and it IS the perfect gadget lol I'm totally in love with it .

HTC are good too but I think if you're used to typing on an ipod touch and you like the layout then go for an iphone!

The HOX has better hardware, but you don't seem like the type of person that's interested in that.

I personally would go for the iPhone 4s as its app store is just unrivalled and developers near enough always initially create apps for the iPhone, often exclusively. Alongside that, it looks and feels great, is smooth, is fast and processes graphics well and has a good camera.

Mm, the S3 looks to delicate to me. I'm not too sure really I haven't really looked into it yet. Yeah the HOX does have better hardware but I love the iPhone layout and it seems more than fast enough for my needs. I'm going to look at the S3 now though.

Id say the biggest factor is the tiny screen size on the iPhone 4s, which makes everything you do on the phone, from surfing the web, emailing, texting, facebook, movies, games, a much much poorer experience, particularly so as the iPhone has a lower resolution too, isn't HD, and has less vivid colours.

The next thing that would be a factor is the user experience. Personally I find Android smoother,pre fluid, faster in use, and with greater customisation. However, some may just prefer a basic app grid and nothing more.

The next thing for me would be the lack of facebook integration on the iPhone. Then the lack of text reflow and flash in the browser. And finally a slower poorer camera, lack of live dynamic widgets, and less free apps in the app store.

Id say iPhone, although youd probably think my opinion is biased because I have an iPhone myself, however all my friends with HTCs say they would happily swap it for an iPhone. Aside from the obvious benefits like a bigger app store, more music etc. It's also incredibly easy to use, has a good battery life and receives regular updates through apple which keeps the interface fresh.

I would choose the iPhone, simply because the One X is too big for me to comfortably use. I highly recommend getting to grips (excuse the pun) with a demo model in a phone store before choosing, you may find you feel the same.

Mm I was thinking of waiting till around September time when the iPhone 5 comes out but won't it be ridiculously overpriced to start with? I can't afford anything over £34/month and I also want unlimited data.

iPhone5 will always be over priced to start with!

However, it really comes down to taste. Personally, I'm in favour of the Htc One X. Looks absolutely brilliant, much faster processor and if money is a factor then the right deal can be much cheaper than the Iphone4S.

Take into account battery life. Htc One x only has a 1800mAh battery (pretty bad for a phone which guzzles juice). So, if you use your phone constantly - maybe go for the 4S. If I was you, and I really was considering the iphone, I'd wait for the iphone 5. 4s, to me, is out dated compared to newer android models.

Also, if you're thinking long term (3 years for a phone) maybe think about buying a phone sim free and then using giff gaff (10 pounds a month you get unlimited texts/data and 250 or so mins).

Got to be the iPhone 4S. Even through the iPhone 4S has been out longer than the HTC One X you will pay slightly more on a contract, around £5 more per month.

With regards to Pritesh.Mistry post about a sim free phone & sim only tariff, could work, however I dont think a phone usually lasts 36 months.

Im at the end of a 24 month contract, the phone is coming to the end of its life (HTC Desire).

Are you talking about the iPhone 4S? The iPhone 4S has the best smartphone display on the market (not my opinion - scientifically). It isn't HD? It has more pixels than your eyes can distinguish? And the colours are 'less vivid'? Have you touched an iPhone before?
It's not a much much poorer experience - it's the best smartphone experience you'll ever had once you get your hands on one.

The 4S has the highest pixel density display, that does not make it the best display on the market, the technology used in the panel is a major factor for example. When people talk about high definition displays, it refers to 720p or 1080p resolutions, something that again, the iPhone does not have. Both the Galaxy S3 and One X have full 720p displays with a PPI over the threshold of 300ppi that Apple defines "retina" by, and the former uses an AMOLED panel. However these displays are a lot larger, nothing competes with the 4/4S in the sub-4" category. They are great for the size, but the days when Apple's display kicked the arse of everything else on the market have passed.

Have you ever seen the resolution of the one x? The display is mind blowing, it's a crystal clear with a super sharp LCD 2 HD (720p) display. Now compare that with the iPhone's 640x960 IPS-LCD display. Although the iPhone has a higher pixel density of 320ppi compared to the HTC's 312ppi, its known that our eyes can't even see above 300ppi anyway.

Besides most expert reviewers rate the HTC's screen above that of the iPhone.
