Hi everyone,
I'm taking the Sustainable Decision Making Exam for Geography GCSE (on OCR) in the middle of June and I wondered if anyone had any useful resources/documents/tips/etc on the resource booklet to help me succeed because I feel very unprepared?!

are any of you doing the final exam aswell? the one with all the topics in it do you know the format of that exam i think its called 'key themes'. I quite worried because i have the sdme resit and that exam and i havent started revising i dont know where to start!!! hahaa

I am also doing OCR's Key Themes exam!

Get a revision guide, the only one I could find is CGP GCSE Geography (OCR Specification B).

Yeah, I'm doing that exam too ... I've not started revising yet either but it's ok because it's not until the 18th June! :/

I agree, get a revision guide and learn as many facts about each case study as possible. Good luck!

Yes I do, I have the paper, it didn't go great.

1a) Why do countries such as the UK have a rapidly ageing population? 2 marks
1b) Explain 2 benefits of having and ageing population. 6 marks
2) Describe the changes of the population pyramids between 2000 and 2050. Explain why the population structure of 2000 may be seen as more sustainable than the 2050 pyramid. 6 marks
3)Use resource 3 and your own knowledge. Compare the disposable income for the over 65's against other age groups Suggest reasons why there are differences in levels between age groups. 6 marks
4)Use resources 4 and 5. Describe the positives and negatives of retirement complexes and explain how the development retirement complexes may be of benefit to the stakeholders outlined in resource 4.

The actual decision question. This is cut down a little, sorry, i am in a hurry.

5)Choose between site 1, 2 or 3 sown in resource 6. You choose which is best for Dunbar. Explain which option you think will affect the community of Dunbar least negatively and is most sustainable to manage an increasing ageing population.
you must:
state your chosen option,
explain why it is more sustainable than other sites,
explain any disadvantages of your choice
give a possible advantage of each of your rejected options.

Lol, my teacher gave us this too. its quite helpful, got all the revision notes from, i do all my revision on here.... just a week to go on my exam :/ SCARED!

My take on this exam is that it is the kind of thing where it is quite difficult to get things wrong - losing marks is generally by not including things or not explaining things well enough. I think the key thing is to go beyond rewriting the booklet as my teacher said that it would get you at max a D. My target is A*. We have a mock on Tuesday, will go over it on Wednesday and exam on Thursday morning... nervous

I did originally pick site 1 but after contemplation I decided to choose site 3 as it had a great environment suitable for a retirement complex. I am not going into detail but that is what I picked.

I'm also going with Site 3 because I think that it is most sustainable to build a retirement complex there, keeps the elderly people integrated with society, and is the most suited environment for a retirement complex.
