    HELP with PC Specs :(
Hello community. As you can see I'm a newbie on the forum. I am thinking of purchasing this Gaming Dekstop it's 420 pounds. The Specs are:

    CPU:AMD FX 4100 Black Edition
    Motherboard: Gigabyte M68MT-S2
    RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333mhz (2x 4GB)
    Hard Drive: 500GB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s
    Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB
    Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio
    Case: Xigmatek Asgard
    PSU: 500W Xigmatek

Will it run games like MW3, BFC, GTA, DEADISLAND, L4D, DIABLO etc? With high settings and no lag etc?

Thanks. Also, don't tell me to build my own. My budget is 400ish pounds

Probably won't do high, and lag is just as much to do with your internet as your computer.

But it should handle MW3, BFC, GTA and L4D fine at medium. Dead Island was an unoptimized piece of **** that ran badly on my top of the line comp that I only built last Xmas. Not sure about Diablo since I don't own it, although I've heard the recommended specs are reasonably high for it.

yes it would run them at high settings, even maximum.

but what resolution will you be running them at ? that is also critical information.

and NO ! FX 4100 is a very bad choice, for upgrade options and performance

that is expensive for what you are getting. My build cost me about 300 and is just as good.

get an intel i3 minimum, they have much better upgrade options if you decide to in the future.

the higher on that list the better, so compare prices from wherever you are buying it from.

It's not bad but you could have a much better intel build for around £100-£200 more. The motherboard is **** and the RAM doesn't seem great either.

I imagine you would be able to play most games on medium to high settings, it should be able to max older games and source games but newer games will need the settings turning down a bit. (I own a similarly specced pc)

that sounds like an amzing deal!
what monitor are you using it on, ie. what resolution are you playing the games on and do you want to have AA and AF in your games?
I don't think you'll have any problems though, the 6870 can run diablo 3 at 1080p maxed at around 70 fps and it can max crysis at 1080p with 4xAA at 44 fps.

    Where you getting this from?

In all honesty, the 6870 with the fx-4100 will play all the games on top settings definitely, but obviously getting an intel would mean better gaming performance then a fx-4100 even the i3.

    I will run 1080p. Why?
Higher resolutions make more work for the graphics card, so you get worse performance compared to lower resolutions.

Looks like a 6870 should be able to blitz through dead island with no problems, according to this:
    http://www.kitguru.net/components/gr...ard-review/14/

The AMD processor is pretty naff: an i3 (Intel's cheapest offering) would perform bit better, and offer a much better upgrade path if that bothers you. But in my experience, it shouldn't hold you back it most games: the vast majority of games are GPU limited. I think you'll be able to run most of what you want maxed out. [From what I've heard, GTA IV might be an exception to this: the processor might stop you from hitting maximum settings there.]

[also, Im not sure what BFC is. If you mean Battlefield Bad Company, I suspect you should be able to just about max that out, at a stretch. If you mean Battlefield 3, I think you'll need to spend a good amount more to run maxed out.]

As a side note, the prebuilt systems which most places offer (IMO) tend to inexplicably make you buy much more CPU than you really need. So good work not falling into that trap. If your budget is limited, I think low end CPU and as-high-as-possible GPU is the way to go. And assuming that the bundle includes Windows, I don't think that price is *too* bad for a pre-built system.

Re: HELP with PC Specs :(
the higher resolution, the slower the game runs, usually

for example I run at 1280 x 1024, quite low for todays standards by my monitor is only 17 inches

running at 2500x1600, if your monitor is that big, means a bigger picture and therefore the graphics card needs to be more powerful

    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/geforc...w-32443-5.html

notice that the higher the resolution, the more the frame rate drops. if your graphics card is really good, and a 6850 is good, it should not be much of a problem.

Decent, but I'd sell the FX 4100 for a Phenom X6 1090 or something similar (I have the X6 1050 and it performs flawlessly).

Don't trust what other people have put about underperformance - this'll handle pretty much all modern games on high or ultra with decent fps. The 6870 is brilliant price/performance and I'm considering getting one myself next month.

You have a decent proccesor , and 8gb of ram which is a plus, and the graphic card is helpful, but i would advise maybe upgrading it form 1gb to 2 or 4gb. You can sell ur old one to go towards this. Should play games well wthout lag, and dont forget a HD monitor!
P.S. If you buy a graphic card, make sure it has a HDMI slot for your monitor

Then kit it up with a SSD drive, DVD BLURAY Drive and use your old GRAPHIC CARD??

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Asus P8H61-M LE/USB3 Motherboard-mATX which is small with minimum specs
Asus Intel i3 2100 CPU A older sandbridge, when he can get the ivybridge i3 for the same price
300wattWow, a generic made power supply, which won't even handle a new graphics card

    4GB of memory!
Antec 300 The only 2 things worth it in the package, and that bundle is a major rip off

Yeah really seems like a beast
Seriously though, any proper Computer person on here first hand knows, PCworld shouldn't ever be considered.

    http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-in...X1V.html?src=2
£!50 for a better deal with an i3 and then £150 to spare for a good motherboard and powersupply.

It wasnt me that researched the PC, my mate did it all and bought the stuff , then he asked me to help him build it. This was last year, then when he installed games on, it was awesome. Nothing compared to an Apple iMac or anything, but still awesome.........

4GB, lol! Who on earth has a 4GB graphics card? The cheapest ones I can find on google are >£500. No way you need that much memory unless youre running loads of monitors at once, or something...

1GB graphics is plenty. For a single monitor setup, I've only ever heard of BF3 having a performance difference between 1GB and 2GB. For everything else, there's no difference. Perhaps this won't be the case in a few years time... But n sense in dishing out loads of extra money, on a budget, for something which might hypothetically be useful in the future, maybe.

Also, OP specifically said he didn't want to self-build. No point trying to convince him when his mind's clearly made up.
