    The Great Gatsby - Essay Question
    Hi all,
    I have got this essay question recently and need some help, here it is:

    "The entire house is described in metaphor or imitation - which may be metphor for the fleeting nature of materialism" How far do you agree?

    Please may I have some suggestions/ paragraphs which I could include in my essay.

    There are frequent mentions of other countries in the description of Tom's house/apartment - could relate to the superficiality of american materialism, in that it isn't truly american?
