Delaying Period: Urgent Advice Needed
Hi all,
I'm currently on the pill. I'm going on holiday to the beach soon, but I totally forgot that my period during the 7-day break between packs, would come right on those days.
I know you can take two packs back-to-back if you want to delay your period, but the thing is I just remembered the fact today. It's already been my 2nd day into the break now. I took the last pill of the last pack on Friday, and my period usually comes on Wednesday or Thursday.
I'm wondering if it's okay for me to just start the new pack on, let's say, Monday, and if that will delay my period the same way as taking a new pack right after the previous one?
Urgent help needed. I'm going away this Friday!
Thank you so much! -
Re: Delaying Period: Urgent Advice Needed
You can, you may end up with a little bit of bleeding for a couple of days, while the hormones get back into your system but it should stop you having a full period and should have settled down by friday. It won't work as a contraceptive though for the rest of the month so depending on why you take it, you'll need another form of contraception. Hope this helps

Re: Delaying Period: Urgent Advice NeededWon't it? I thought that as long as you didn't lengthen the break, contraceptive cover was still in place.(Original post by thatsthebadger93)

Re: Delaying Period: Urgent Advice Needed
Yeah, won't it work as contraceptive? Cos normally even during the 7-day break one is still protected right? And I'm taking the new pack before, not after, the normally scheduled day. Shouldn't it logically still work as contraceptive? Anyone sure of the answer? Thanks so much!

Won't it? I thought that as long as you didn't lengthen the break, contraceptive cover was still in place.I think I was told that it would n't because it's to do with where you are in your cycle when you start the new pack, a bit like if you miss a day you're then not protected until you start the new cycle? Could be completely wrong though as I was told this a couple of years ago.(Original post by minimoto)

Re: Delaying Period: Urgent Advice NeededGenerally, as long as you've taken at least 21 days (consecutively and all taken correctly) you can have a break of up to 7 days and you will still be protected throughout the break and when you start the new pack.(Original post by thatsthebadger93)
