    A Bit Of Advice Please
Hi, I am in year 12, just finishing my AS year, and I was wondering what are the requirements for law?
Currently I am studying: French, Maths, Biology and Chemistry
And will drop French at the end of this year

My GCSE grades: 7A* and 3A
Will it be possible for me to study law at university with these grades?

If not, what else could I do, I really need advice and help as I need to start deciding to apply for university next year!

I was also considering medicine as well btw, and chem eng

    Thanks very much!

Why not check the entry requirements at Unis? I know some are A*AA or AAA at A Level and a strong set of GCSEs are needed too

I was wondering if the subjects themselves are okay, because I heard that you must do certain subjects eg: History / English etc...

The entry requirements will also tell you that.

Look up universities you're interested in attending and look at their online prospectus for the subject and grade requirements.

They don't specifically say what subjects they want but a strong set of good, traditional subjects is prefered

Don't forget that it is also possible to do postgrad law - you do a one year Graduate Diploma of Law (which gets you to the same stage as someone with an LLB) and then either a Legal Practice Course or a Bar Professional Training Course, followed by a training contract or pupillage.

Unfortunately your GCSE grades are no where near good enough. Next best option - bin man?

No, you have a great set of subjects - just focus on getting the best grades possible and good luck

Medicine and law are both really competitive subjects and will demand a really focussed application. So you need to decide soon and do things to help your application - for medicine you'll need work experience and for law it's less necessary but is helpful.

So instead of worrying about grade requirements - either subject will require high grades - start thinking about what you actually want to do.

You need to decide which you would like to do. Try get experience or look up the job roles for each to see which you would prefer.
After you decide, look at the entry requirements for the courses you would like to do at the universities you would like to go to. Medicine will have specific subjects which you will need, as will engineering. I think you may need physics to do engineering, but im unfamiliar with that branch of it so you will have to look at the courses yourself to see.

Thank you very much I understand, I've had some med work experience, and I do volunteering, but I haven't really done much for law apart from reading an article here and therethere, and seeing some lectures

I really need to start thinking!
    But thanks for the advice!
