Class is better than book. But yes it is possible to use a book to learn it providing you have a pair of eyeballs, a brain and you can read. You will also probably need a pair of hands to turn the pages or someone to do that for you and somewhere to store the book in your house when the time comes you want to place it somewhere......

Class is better ! Especially if you never have practiced before because even with a book you can do the wrong movements.

I couldn't afford a yoga class in Bath so with my housemates we try the Wii Fit game in which we can do yoga exercises and it is really good ! Thanks to the balance board, the wii can say if you are doing wrong or not.

But of course if you can afford yoga class (both in time and money) go for it !

Class because the instructor will talk you through the postures are you are doing them and will correct your posture if necessary.

Also, watch out for the pervs lol I took up yoga because the physio recommended because I've become injury prone, I'm also gay, the "oh-my-god-i-would-never-think-he-is-gay" type...this meant that a couple of "lads" (whom thought that 1 casual chat automatically made me their friend) disclosed to me that they chose yoga for the sole and only purpose of picking up girls - don't be fooled by their "nice guy" smile and persona because once you lift the veil you will discover a raging clunge hungry animal, they've made a calculated decision to be there and are there for one thing and one thing only :P

Or they could be gay like me One or the other...but be careful.

That's an insider heads up from me

I agree with this totally. A class is always better because you'll have someone to guide you if you go wrong, but I personally started with the Wii Fit due to lack of money and I'm getting quite advanced with it now.

I agree class is better. I couldn't find any class at a time/place I can do so I've had to go with youtube videos. There's a lot on there which is probably the easiest way to follow it but still not as good as in classes

Just in-case you do some damage to yourself, you are better off joining a class. Most gyms have yoga classes.
