Who can see my NHS record? So long story short, I have to do work experience this summer with a clinical psychologist within the NHS.
Can she look at my medical record if she wanted to? And what are the chances that she would do a background check on me first? -
Re: Who can see my NHS record?
It would be against the rules for her to look at your medical record if she's not treating you - could land her in massive trouble with her regulatory body. And if she's not working at your GP surgery (or your hospital if you mean hospital records) then she won't be able to access your records anyway even if she wanted to.
Why are you asking? If there's some aspect of the work experience that you think you would struggle with, then you should tell her so that you can work around it. But that's your decision. She's not going to look up your medical history, don't worry. -

Re: Who can see my NHS record?
if she doesnt work on your case , she should not look at your health record .
but a health care professional in that area can access all record in that county .
for example , my sister working in south west london CMHT can look at all patient located in that area .they have to ask for your consent most fo the time unless they are working on your case /working in urgent case ,this mean if you are /might be at risk to yourself or other .
most company will do background check on their employee but they can not access your medical record without your consent , it is against the law ! you have to give consent and it is your own decision if you dont want to . -
Re: Who can see my NHS record?Just ask at your GP surgery. All medical records are property of the home secretary so you need to make a request in writing to your surgery. There may be a fee for accessing them (but this fee is limited to about £10 I think)(Original post by izzabellezi)
No, if she did look up your record it would be considered unethical and technically you need to give consent. Does anyone know how you can access your own medical records by the way?
