noo cheating.... =P!

Re: OCR Economics of Work and Leisure F583 June 2012well, the benefits and costs and why people immigrate i guess(Original post by Lalaa)
immigration.. mmmm.. what sort of things do you think will come up for that.. or you hope will.. ( cuz i havent gone to depth with that ) =\
benefits are things like:
expansion of the labour force
increase in diversity
immigrants can provide complementary skills (a female doctor can return to work after having a baby if alot of foreign childminders come over for example)
immigrants can fill vacancies that domestic workers don't want (menial jobs like cleaners etc)
can use their income to contribute to spending in the economy
costs:
can depress the wages of domestic workers
put a strain on scarce resources such as Housing and Healthcare
If immigrants are coming here just to go to university, then returning to their home country then they are using our resources without giving back to our economy
if immigrants send their wages back to family, this won't benefit consumer spending (this is called remittance)
there's more, but i'm kind of in 'French Revision Mode' atm so my mind is a bit all over the place
