How is rep accumulated? I recently went from +1 to -1 under my name, and yet it says I'm -6 above where it shows recent up/downvotes.

Your reputation level is based on the number of positive/negative ratings from your posts and personal reputation points you've been given. Go to "My TSR" and at the bottom, you'll find your current rep points and see the reputation chart in the link to find out how many points are required for the next level.
