It was bad but not shocking considering it is in Eastern Europe. These countries have little in terms of immigration; their discrimination is just based on crude biological racism. Don't see things being much better in Russia 2018 World Cup, surely Uefa and Fifa should take such things into consideration.

Also, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar- where homosexuality is illegal, these countries should not even be allowed to be considered as hosts untill they sort this crap out.

I am actually even more shocked and angered by the reaction of Stan Collymore on Twitter who has stated that everyone is overreacting and that the scenes of a few football supporters do not represent the countries as a whole - he has totally missed the point.

Personally though would love to see England play Ukraine or Poland in the knock out stages and totally batter them with Young and Walcott scoring.

Is It just me or is Britain seem to be the only country not so messed up?

I mean like, we don't have racism really - not to the scale in other countries.

We have pretty much complete law and order - not a huge crime rate

Our cities are more or less safe.

We on the whole are good, caring and free minded people.


Then you step outside into countries as Ukraine.... Quite proud of Britain

I think the BBC have done a grand job at making an entire country look like racist thugs. Whilst I'm not suggesting that racism doesn't happen there, it does, (but where doesn't it) I'm suggesting the problem probably isn't as big as perceived by Panorama.

I remember there being uproar about the WC 2010 is South Africa due to racism fears, I didn't hear much about the racism.

What baffles me is why anyone would go to Ukraine pay extortionate hotel prices to watch some football matches...wouldn't you rather go to the pub with your mates, have a pint and get the benefit of the replays?

I don't think you could make a documentary like that in the UK. There isn't a stadium or a venue in the UK where that many people regularly meet and display racist behaviour openly without challenge or prosecution. I also think it's unfair to suggest the BBC were trying to make an entire country look like racist thugs. I think their aim was to highlight the dangers of violence against fans from ethnic minorities when attending football matches (which is what Euro 2012 is about).

I've been to serbia and hungary .. they are generally not nice places, the country side is, but all I can say for the urban areas is ... derelict, tower blocks of flats, apartment projects everywhere, a mish mash of soviet and 19th century achitecture, grey ... concrete.

I would agree, but we have to be careful with this country. I sense there is a very sinister undercurrent of racism still prevalent but they have learned to cover it up better, fly under the radar so to speak. But yeah I think there is less.

less than 30 years ago we had one of the worst problems with football violence in Europe. Even in the last 20 years we have seen cases of violence and even murder directed to people of ethnic minorities. We have groups of football-esque hooligans marching around areas with a high Muslim population sometimes smashing their businesses and usually shouting intentionally offensive phrases. Yet somehow 30 minutes of footage that sets out to deliberately paint a region in a certain light and all of a sudden you are experts about the behaviour and nature of these countries?!

In recent years we have seen Ultras in Italy blow up a policeman with an explosive and many other cases of regular violence. If any of you have visited Milan you will know that similar levels of racist and Nazi symbols are painted all around the area surrounding the San Siro.

To the first guy, you chat ****. Even if what you say were remotely true, Hungary is neither Ukraine or Poland any more than Spain is Britain or Germany. Now I know people who have lived in Hungary for a lot longer than a year (try all of their life) and they would tell you that you are chatting complete and utter ****e.

Also, Poland as a backward country or even a **** hole, LOL bitch please. Both economically and crime wise, Poland fairs a lot better than Italy and a few other western European countries for that matter. Those Polish fans filmed are obviously idiots and uneducated, but considering all of your words, I doubt many of you are in much of a position to judge.

yes, I have been to Belgrade. The buildings in the middle of the city that are derelict are a result of the bombings and were left as a sort of "look what they did to us, wtf" protest.
