    Draining away my fitness?
    Hello!

    So short story long,

I'm looking into giving blood. However, I'm quite an active person. (Swim 7 times a week, run 3 times, gym 3 times + other bits).

Do you think if I was to give blood there would be a large, long term impact on my fitness?:nosebleed:

You'd be fully recovered in 3-4 weeks:

I give blood. I'm not quite as active as you but I am still pretty active. I make sure I do it before a day off, preferably two then I've never felt any different for it. Perhaps a little but nothing major, if you response the same as me I wouldn't expect it to be much of a problem unless you are in the run up to a comp or something where a small difference really matters

There will be no long-term effect, blood regenerates itself over time, it's how we are able to spare a little :P

Thanks everyone - think I might wait until after the half marathon coming up and then see how it effects me the first time
