Re: AQA Core 3 Exam May 31 2012 Official Discussion
can someone please help me out lol it;s my calculator..you know the normal Casio one..it normally converts it into fractions by pressing the S-D button (the change button thing) but now it doesnt :/ i may have accidentally pressed the wrong mode set up or something..does anyone know how i can sort that out ..(it just goes into decimals you see i need it in fractions!!) thankssss

Re: AQA Core 3 Exam May 31 2012 Official DiscussionPress shift and mode/set up button then press 1 for "MthIO" You've currently got it set to "LineIO" which is more useful for physics(Original post by Raj K)

Re: AQA Core 3 Exam May 31 2012 Official Discussion
x=cosecθ
dx/dθ=-cosecθcotθ
∴dx=-cosecθcotθ
Integral becomes:
∫_(√2)^2▒〖(-cosecθcotθ)/(〖cosec〗^2 θ√(1-〖cosec〗^2 θ)) dθ〗
∫_(√2)^2▒〖(-cotθ)/(〖cosec〗^ θ√(〖cot〗^2 θ)) dθ〗
∫_(√2)^2▒〖(-1)/(〖cosec〗^ θ) dθ〗
∫_(√2)^2▒〖-sinθ dθ〗
[cosθ] 2¦√2
The next bit is to sub the limits into x=cosecθ and find out theta in radians then put them into cosθ and subtract them accordingly. -

Re: AQA Core 3 Exam May 31 2012 Official DiscussionAs a matter of fact they do! or at least they want the pass rate to go down as its been on the up for the past 20 years or so. Basically, they're keen on separating the A* students from the A students.(Original post by Charliexo93)
worried about this exam. The January one was so awful :'( praying for an easier paper! I swear the examiners just want us to fail

Re: AQA Core 3 Exam May 31 2012 Official Discussion
Personally, I hope the paper is as hard as it was in January. I bossed that past-paper and I'm really hoping for full UMS. However, I always make silly mistakes (exam-nerves), so if it is a hard paper, then the grade boundaries will be more generous to me
1 more day of solid revision left, use it wisely guys
Good luck. -
Re: AQA Core 3 Exam May 31 2012 Official DiscussionBecause on the bottom, Cos^2(theta) becomes Cos^3(theta). Square root it first, then raise it to the power of 3.(Original post by Z REFAN Z)
Can anyone explain to me how to do the question from June 2008 7.c.
The part im stuck on is how they get integral of cos(theta) divided by cos(theta) squared to the power of 3/2 to sec squared theta... :/
That cancels with the top bit so you're left with 1/Cos^2(theta). Which is the same as Sec^2(theta)
