I got 1/36 in a different question haha

Ohhh I don't know. I came out with logs, I just couldn't get it into the form I wanted I'm hoping maybe 4 marks out of 6 for me?
I knew I remembered 1/36 from somewhere.. haha

But yea if you got everything right up to just getting it into that form you're gonna lose like 2 marks tops. Maybe only 1 mark.

    So 4/5 out of 6.

    Which is pretty good really

Haha I hope so I'm hoping for at least 90UMS! What do you think the boundaries will be like? I found the Jan 2012 paper way harder and still came out with an A so I'm hoping I'll have done better in this one!

Yeh i gave up on it and came back to it at the end too - only there was about a minute left so i probably got 1 outa the 6 marks or sumat.
Add up the rest of the silly mistakes (rushed last question completely and didnt check anyy of the paper) And Ther Goes Any Chance At An A grade Down The Drain.

Hmm, I got 1 and 2 as the stationary points in the last question.

On the trig one I got 3 values (some people are saying they got 4?). I remembered the +-1/4 as well.
    I got 3!
The fourth was out of range. Right?

I got 3 values too for the trig one
    mess up the substitution question

But for the trig one, I only got two values
The other values I found were > Pi
    (And I did use +- 1/4)

    sin(2x - 0.6) = 1/4 , -1/4
    for 0 <= x <= Pi

I think you might be right with the 3 values, just done the question again and the 4th one I'm getting won't count.

I only put 2 though as I am an idiot and didn't do +/-4

    sin(2x + 0.6) = 1/4 , -1/4

I think there's one extra one and the last one doesn't count?

    I got 3!
The fourth was out of range. Right?
Ye that's right, cause it was like (2x-0.6) = 0.25, pie - 0.25, pie + 0.25 and 2pie - 0.25 (which was just outside of the range 0 to pie)

Yea I think this was a pretty good paper too, I found it easier than the last couple of papers.

Just had a look and 57 was an A on Jan 2012 C3.

Soo I dunno I'm crap with grade boundaries.. haha

I don't reckon it'll move much from there though really.

Maybe 58/59 for an A on this one?

from the trig question if you factorise cosec^2 you get x=-4/x=4
used the x=4 to get sinx=1/4. then put it into the equation of 2x-0.6, so that comes out at 1/2-0.6, right? ended up sin^-1 coming out at like -0.1, which on the sin graph you do pie--0.1, came out at like 3.2 or something

There was 4 values for the trig question, one value for tan theta was less than 0, but when you apply the (2x-0.6) it becomes positive.

I'm sure there were three final values for the trig question. One of them was just outside the interval.. 3.3.. or something.

Re: AQA Core 3 Exam May 31 2012 Official Discussion
    For question 6 substitution i got 1/4ln3/2 - 1/12

    for the sin(2x-0.6) i got 4 values as sin^-1(-1/4) = -0.25, 3.39
    therefore 2x= 0.35, 3.99
    therefore x= 0.18, 2.00

    sin^-1(1/4)= 0.25, 2.89
    therefore x= 0.43, 1.75

and i got 1 and 2 for stationary points and when x=1 y=0 so it is min point on x axis when x=1 and for y=tan^-1(x-1) we got the formula in the booklet which was 1/1+x^2

thought that the exam was defo better than january! what did everyone draw for the 2 different graphs on the modulus question? it confused me! also what were the coordinates of the max point? i think i got (-2,4.5)

First graph I drew everything above the x axis. Second graph I reflected in the y axis. For the coordinates I got (-2, 5)
