Should we remove support from Scottish olympic athletesAs we all know the Scotland will soon become independent nation. Most people in scotland want it, so why should the rest of the UK support these people? You hear people saying i'm proud to be bristish and yet want to be independent nation.

If Scotland becomes independent then I imagine that English fans would treat them exactly the same way as they already do in Rugby, football etc. With a mutual sporting rivalry.
To be honest your suggestion sounds like vindictiveness. These athletes are still British and obviously each Scottish member of Team GB has quite knowingly chosen to represent the entirety of Great Britain. It also makes the assumption that most people in Scotland do want independence, which is by no means certain. That's something for the referendum to establish.(Original post by ITGIRL)

I don't understand your logic here. Take football as an example of how fans support a team, rather than a nationality of players in particular. Man United fans will support their team irrespective of which countries their players come from. Team GB will contain athletes from across the UK, so if you support GB then you'd be foolish not to support the Scottish athletes within it.

I'm Scottish, but I'm prouder to be British.
Most Scots I know don't feel so strongly about being British, but still support the Union.
