I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this but at my school we did a mock (sent by the exam board) which was for this actual exam and 40 marks was a B, wouldn't it be similar to that?
I so hope 40 marks is a B and that i get 40 marks! -
Re: GCSE Edexcel Maths Unit 3 19/06/2012 Exam DiscussionI dunno if that would be right if I'm perfectly honest :/, the past grade boundaries have been about 35 ish/60 for a B, which is a bit over half marks, that was for the Unit 1/2 papers though, this is the first time a Unit 3 paper has been sat, so you can always hope(Original post by bethy1995)

Re: GCSE Edexcel Maths Unit 3 19/06/2012 Exam DiscussionGeorge there not gonna be raised much, lots of people found the paper hard. i swear grade boundaries never go above the actual percentage anyway mate? Usually the change is down(Original post by Georgehigginson)
F*ck, I got 69/80... needed 82.5% for A*, now thats over 86% but according to some people That won't be enough as they will raise boundaries. I made retarded mistakes, like I thought the divide sign was a plus sign and I did the whole cone question as you would for a cylinder... Please tell me I should be ok with 69... I got 116/120 and 114/120 in the other units. -
Re: GCSE Edexcel Maths Unit 3 19/06/2012 Exam Discussion
Hi,
I am unsure of the grade I am likely to get as I got 108 in unit 1 and 108 in unit 2, so what did I need to get in this exam to get an A* overall?
I looked at the unoffical mark scheme and I worked out i probably got about 65/80, will this be enough or not?
Also how did people find this exam? Will the grade boundaries be low because it is an new exam paper or high because it was a reasonably easy test?
Thanks

Re: GCSE Edexcel Maths Unit 3 19/06/2012 Exam Discussion
Everyone here seems to think that RAW marks are just doubled to get UMS marks, but I doubt that's true- seeming as I've heard something around 48-50/60 in Unit 2 was A* (108). But, if someone has the RAW mark boundaries, could they please reply to this post.

I need around 141 to get an A* - but I think I may have got around 65 raw marks
based on the PDF mark scheme - so now I'm ****ting myself about not getting an A*

Re: GCSE Edexcel Maths Unit 3 19/06/2012 Exam DiscussionThe raw grade boundaries from previous exams are the only ones we can really go on and you can find them here: http://www.edexcel.com/iwantto/pages...oundaries.aspx, click on a link that says ' GCSE Units' as that will give you raw mark, and find a session that has either a Unit 1 or 2 paper being sat in that session, Mathematics B1 = Unit 1, Mathematics B2 = Unit 2, generally it has been around 54-52 for an A* out of 60, so I imagine it would be the same for this one, especially considering many found it a straightforward paper, on here anyway, so around 72 for an A*(Original post by pop101)

Re: GCSE Edexcel Maths Unit 3 19/06/2012 Exam Discussion
how many marks do you think I will lose if I got the following incotrect: I forgot to saw traansformation was clockwise, I did sin60 for last question instead of sin40 which means another mark lost,I did whole method of trial and improvemwnt right but then put 1.7, shaded wrong region for the inequalities ans for rearramging I got 7-2a/2-5 but isnt that sinilar to the answer just written differently? I need 149/160 for my A* can someone please let me know if they think ive got it

Re: GCSE Edexcel Maths Unit 3 19/06/2012 Exam DiscussionYou would've lost 5-6 marks, thats about 74 75, and we are estimating grade boundaries to be about 73 for an a* thats equivalent to about 144 ums, if you got about 75, then I think you'll get 149 ums just about! So just pray, I think your really close to it or just above(Original post by fouls78)
