Exam was wow! But many people @ my school thought it was hard.

My reaction after leaving the exam hall:

LOOOL nice choice of representation. I found the exam reallllly good which means the boundaries are likely to be higher than they have ever been like 48/55 for an A*?
Many repeat questions which meant they were running out of questions to offer My most challenging question was surprisingly the range 1 :L I put it should be higher rather than his low value to indicate the true value or something along those lines.

I'd be wary of thinking I've lost as few as 2 marks- OCR can be quite tricky with their markschemes I think I've gotten at least a decent A though [hopefully] which should give me my A* overall.

I'm hoping I'll still get the mark for valve- our textbooks didn't specify their names D:

I'm doing Edexcel History- Life in Germany?!

If you guys/gals are wondering, the answer to the question to the diagram of the heart was that structure A is a biscupid valve (<3 cgp), and its job is to prevent the backflow of the blood.

The natural selection (4 mark question) would have gotten you the FULL 4 marks by answering it in the format of what has been in the past paper. I.e. the explanation which leads to people passing on their genes which is an example of natural selection and therefore the frequency is more common.

No he said something about Genes being released into the environment then "It shouldn't be allowed". Ordinarily I'd say that's environmental, but there were no alternatives...

Anyone else notice the medal winner had been training in a previous paper?! Nice continuity there, OCR... same image and everything ;D

Yeah, I thought it was an alright paper, too

But I don't think, actually, the boundaries will move significantly... because it's not been any easier than previous year's papers, in my opinion, they were all equally as okay...
Haha they only changed her name! She was Jessica on the past paper...

Anyway, At least that's another exam done. In terms of difficulty (though I hate to say an exam is easy, shouldn't jinx it :P) it was: Chemistry>Physics>Biology.

But Biology was always going to be at the bottom anyway :P

I'm hoping the valve one will give you the marks purely for 'valve' as the course textbook we had didn't name the valves. Hard to tell. Fingers crossed!

I don't think we'll see significantly raised boundaries- they tend to be higher than Physics & Chemistry anyway, and although we all sit here and say we found that paper easy, I don't think we'd have found any of the past papers harder at all- there will be an equal number of silly mistakes, specific marks lost from the markscheme being fussy... so I thin we'll be okay!

Genetic modification doesn't involve a gene probe, that's only used in genetic testing You had to say gene for vitamin A isolated and replicated from the daffodil. This was then transferred to a new cell which was the rice by means of a vector such as a plasmid or virus

Valve will give you the mark, it was only 1 mark, at GCSE you don't need to know that kind of specific stuff, CGP may of made it too complicated there..

I predict.. though I used the specification which was much more efficient, so I knew most of the stuff anyway a medium balance.. Most people in my class, because they didn't revise much, didn't understand what was meant by recording and storing stuff etc.
An A* therefore, will be around 45/46 in my predictions.

Also, on a separate note, i'd like to thank everyone for all those resources and help they gave, i'm sure you've all boosted up my marks by a few which could make a real difference! Things like the pre-release questions resources gave me a big boost of confidence when I saw it on the exam and was able to put 1050 straight away

    Yeah that's correct

Economical Issues - The issue that talked about farmers and money profits

Social Issues - The one which talked about how it will change people's lives forever.

Ethical Issues - The one which talked about being transferred to other plants, this is not right.
