Best/favourite new up and coming actors??
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Best/favourite new up and coming actors??
Thread title says it all I guess.
My personal favourite is Jeremy Renner, I know he is not that new and has done a few good films but I think this year is THE year for him, his big break.
I think he is incredibly talented and mmmm so sexy!
What are everyone else's favourites? -
Re: Best/favourite new up and coming actors??
Don't have any favourites but hope Tom Hardy gets a big break with Batman and Ryan Gosling can continue the momentum from his awesome performance in Drive. Also Emma Stone, she seems rather good (Easy A, The Help and will be in upcoming Spider-man).
These are kinda known names already I guess, but they are young and still making their name.Last edited by silent ninja; 30-05-2012 at 00:32. -

Re: Best/favourite new up and coming actors??Agree. Thought Bronson was a bit whacky and arty, but I found him pretty intimidating in Warrior. If he can bring that kind of persona to Bane that would be awesome.(Original post by Fuzzed_Out)

Agree on Ryan Gosling, I haven't seen Drive yet, only just ordered it on LoveFilm today, but seen quite a few of his films, and I absoloutely LOVED him in Blue Valentine.

Drive is a kind of moody atmospheric thriller. Lots of silence. He's really intense in it and the movie has a good 80's theme to it. It's not for everyone but I liked it, hopefully you will too.
Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad (and Malcolm in the Middle) is supporting too. He's a legend. Breaking Bad = greatness.Last edited by silent ninja; 30-05-2012 at 14:11. -
Re: Best/favourite new up and coming actors??
Ryan Gosling has been around awhile now, its just recently that he's garnered some more attention. Personally I find his acting style very "hit and miss," although more "hit" than "miss" recently I say.
Eddie Redmayne looks promising. Fairly good in "My week with Marilyn" and Birdsong" and after seeing trailer for "Hick" he looks phenomenal! Also he's in Les Miserables, which will either confirm my affection for him or lose it forever!
Jeremy Irvine seems like he's got a lot to offer as well. Liked his portrayal of Pip in "Great Expectations."
Lily James as well. She was SPECTACULAR in Othello. -
Re: Best/favourite new up and coming actors??
Alex Pettyfer seems to be doing well... thought he was great in I am number for and Beastly. He hasn't been round for long I don't think.
Tom hardy I think is great... hes been around for a while just not very noticed. He done rocknrolla and bronson, looking forward to seeing him in this means war with reece witherspoon

Re: Best/favourite new up and coming actors??While I haven't seen either of those films, I know for a fact that Alex Pettyfer has been around for a while, just not on a large scale. He was in the Stormbreaker movie a while back and was also in Wild Child. The last thing I saw him in was In Time. I can't say I like him as an actor.(Original post by Darkstar1993)

Re: Best/favourite new up and coming actors??Its good, but admittedly a little disappointing. The actors are divine, its really the storyline and cinematography that lacks. I read the book beforehand though admittedly, so maybe I was prepared for it.(Original post by paperclip345)

), Jennifer Lawrence and Ryan Gosling have been in loads of things for example.
