I will be celebrating my weekend by doing absolutely nothing after 3 weeks of intense revision for evil a-levels. The fact that it happens to be the jubilee has nothing to do with it.

i live near the thames so will be watching the pageant! then going to a 50's themed picnic and fair.

i respect the queen, i think it's amazing that she's spent the majority of her life working for the country when she didn't even have a choice, and she was only just older than most of us when she was given the responsibility. i say celebrate!

Lol I think it's a little harsh to be so scathing towards the Queen. Even if you are not a royalist (I'm not) she deserves more respect than she is getting on this thread. The fact is she has committed almost her entire life to the commonwealth and to being a respectable head of state.

She is also an elderly lady and I have a soft spot for the elderly anyway so even if you aren't remotely interested in the jubilee I think it is at least right and proper to show her a little respect.

it's called freedom and democracy, though I am hardly surprised a royalist finds such concepts objectionable...

I refuse to celebrate an institution that represents so many of the most vile aspects of British society, I have every right to join the protest which has every right to take place, if you don't like it, then I suggest you holiday to China or Syria...I hear they like your kind of attitude to protests too...

Well, obviously she did have a choice (she could abdicate whenever she wants) but aside from that I agree with your sentiments.
