Hi, i started A levels in september 2011, i was doing Geography, Philosophy and ethics, statistics and business. I fell so far behind, i decided to leave at the start of december.

i have been working since then, but plan to go back to college in september.

I am either going to do a Btec in public services, or attempt to do a levels again(with the right work ethic etc)

I have no clue what i want to do when im older, i like working outside, and i like working with people... Maybe a teacher.. not too sure!

The a levels i would be doing would be, Environmental Studies, Business, Geography & Psychology... what do they sound like?

Someone please give me some advice!

Okay so if you did those A levels, forgive me if I'm wrong and someone please correct me, but if you aspired to become a teacher you would probably end up teaching one of those subjects, or one similar. Eg if you do Geography A level then Geography degree, would you not have to then go on to train as a teacher in Geography?

So my point is to look at those subjects and see if you'd enjoy teaching any of them, and spending all day every day with that subject.

All of those subjects, in a way, fit in with working outside or working with people.
Environmental studies - outside
Business - with people
Geography - potentially outside and people
Psychology - people (therapist or something)

Those A levels sound very good for what you want to do, but I'm concerned that, because you fell behind last year, you will do the same.

Are you confident you can work hard to keep up this time? If so, A levels sound great.

If not, you may have to consider the Btec, although I'm not sure where you'd go after completing it.

I've been in a similar situation... last year i didnt do very well in my a levels, but i thought to myself oh i have next year to re take so whats the point of doing work now. but now this year.. i thought to myself i'll work twice as harder than last year.. and that hasnt happened. i suggest if you really want to do a levels and you'll put a lot of effort into revising and trying to understand the subject then you should. however, i've heard btec courses are easier.. and unis do accept btecs.
my friend failed her a levels last year, and decided to do an accounting course so she did that for a year.. and now shes going to uni in september.

Lou - Firstly thankyou for the reply.

I really think i will work hard, i've experienced how hard it is first hand out here with no qualifications (Well 11 GCSE's) And what sort of job i'd be looking at if i wasnt to go back to education.

I didnt really work for my GCSE's and still managed to come out with 1 A, 5 B's, 5 C's. I thought i could do the same for A levels, but you clearly cant!

Fresh start come september i think.
