one direction!<3hey there people i just wanted to get your opinions on the boyband; one direction.
i absolutely adore them but recently found out the majority of my friends despise them :L
what dyou think hot or not?

They are just a few good looking lads, who can sing ok-ish, I guess, who Simon Cowell knew could make him millions.

Re: one direction!<3zayn is hot and i like what makes you beautiful but thats about it... i think the rest of them are overly arrogant and concieted, especially harry whatshisface who doesn't have the looks to back up his huge ego, no offence.

Re: one direction!<3I'm not a fan of them, or of JLS or The Wanted if I'm honest (although I prefer 1D and JLS to The Wanted). What Makes You Beautiful is a decent song, yes, but I don't see how so many teenage girls are saying stuff like "Boys need to treat girls like One Direction do" because of the song. It's just another example of preying on the insecurities of teenage girls, like Bruno Mars did with Just The Way You Are. And girls wouldn't be saying that if the song had been sung by someone who wasn't good-looking, but then again that's pretty much the basis of 1D's success.
Edit 1: This was actually meant to lead on to a point about how they have people who are better at writing than they are at singing, which is one problem I have with them. That, and the fact that it's generic teenage girl stuff as I've mentioned. However, to be fair, I doubt Tom Fletcher or Porcelain Black would sing the songs they've written for the band, so it makes sense that a band like 1D gets the song.
I'll be honest, they do have decent voices. And they (mostly) seem like nice lads, although the only one I like is Zayn. I think in the far future a few of them could have decent solo careers. However, they're not as good-looking as everyone makes them out to be and I doubt they'll still be around by 2020.
Final note: What's the obsession with Harry Styles? He's the worst-looking in the band, his hair isn't good at all, and he's a weak singer.

Re: one direction!<3There's an awful lot of discussion of who's the 'best looking' from One Direction, which has no relation to their musical quality.
I think as far as boy bands go, they're perfectly reasonable. Don't get me wrong, I would not call myself a fan nor would I choose to listen to them. However, I can endure them if they are on.
Of all their songs, "What makes you beautiful" is by far the best - albeit, still mindless boy band pop. But I can absolutely understand why it appeals, and it's fantastic for what it is.
I also don't think they write their songs: most artists - or indeed their record label - employ a lyricist/songwriter. So don't think they're wonderful romantics based on their lyrics alone. -
