Re: My student maintenance Loan and Grant not going in before i move in!
You need to get a student bank account with an interest-free overdraft before you go. You pay for things with the overdraft money and then when your loan payment goes in the overdraft is repayed and then you continue as you would if you'd got the loan payment before you went.

Re: My student maintenance Loan and Grant not going in before i move in!
I emailed the accomidation office and they said if i sent them a copy of my loan information they'd hold off on the payment for accomdation till then.
So i guess try that if your having the same problem as me.
A student account overdraft wouldnt of covered all of the fee for my accomadation as most of the overdrafts only go up to 1000 if your a first year.
Thanks for the advice though! xx -
Re: My student maintenance Loan and Grant not going in before i move in!What uni are you going to? The uni I went to let us extend our payment so that we didn't have to pay our rent until our loan came in. Maybe try emailing your accommodation office?(Original post by chaz693)

Re: My student maintenance Loan and Grant not going in before i move in!
Are you moving into uni accommodation, or private?
It's unlikely that you will get student finance to give you money early, as they need to check your attendence at the university (first day there) before they will pay you anything. If it's uni accommodation they are usually more flexible when it comes to SF dates, and talking to them could help. -
Re: My student maintenance Loan and Grant not going in before i move in!
student finance always arrives after uni starts (usually just by a few days) because they have to confirm that you are actually there.. and logically you have to move in by the time you start. If its uni accommodation they will wait and if its private either try to explain to them or if they wont wait you will have to pay it with an overdraft which willl be repaid once your student finance comes in.
