    What is your perception of the importance of photography in cultural preservation and history?

    Is photography and other visual media significant in encapsulating the world for future generations?

    I am a fourth year photography student in Cape Town and My dissertation topic is on documentary photography and its usage in the preservation of culture. I am interested in what other people (not necessarily photography students) think. :-)
