C4 question



I don't understand why they have done the working out (in the red box)..
It's not necessary, I've always found it easier though. If you have a topheavy fraction (order of numerator >= order of denominator) then you can do long division and then proceed with partial fractions, or you can just go straight into partial fractions (but note the algebra will be slightly more difficult).

EDIT: While what I said does hold, as steve said - you've mixed in two questions there oO.

I don't think the red box has anything to do with THIS question.
