Thank you for your stuff What is a case study for In the work place?
I used Walker's crisps factory example in Cheshire (couldn't remember the exact place so I picked a random town, lol) and said that they have used solar panels to heat the water they use during production, installed eco-friendly lightbulbs, and put signs up in sanitary places to remind the employees not to waste water.

Wow we were not taught anything like this! There's not even a case study about it in the book

I was just wondering which pathway you do (A or B) and whether this is Physical or Human Geography, because I'm doing B Physical Geography and my exam is tomorrow and I haven't learnt about this!

few! Honestly, it's ok, I just got confused that I had completely missed out something that would be on the exam. Yeah, I'm doing Geography B Unit One: Dynamic Planet, thanks about clearing that up, and good luck to you too

yeah, I took the Walkers Crisps sustainability example from the Watery World unit, but I checked with my teacher and he said it'd be fine, I backed up my points & gave data, so there's no harm done. I mean, we *can* just pluck a case study out of thin air, given that it's realistic - ie you could say Topshop are being more sustainable with energy saving lightbulbs in their shops & using eco-friendly paper bags that are recyclable & have a message for the customer on the bag to remind them to recycle the bag when they get home... we have no concrete evidence, but it's probably happening anyway, just add in a few made up but realistic statistics and you'll get the marks. I mean, the examiner isn't exactly going to waste their time googling it and deduct us for it, they'l have forgotten about it in 3 minutes time when they've moved onto the next question anyway.

Wow your actually amazing! Would never be able to just pluck out a case study !

does anyone know what the 6 marker was on in the january 2012 paper?

and if so, what other stuff came up...
6 marker in Jan 2012, was how organisation are being sustainable

obviously still revise this, a sit may come up as a 4 mark question..
im guessing tomorrow's six marker may be describe a local OR maybe global response to climate change, as that has not come up???
then again, all options are theoretically possible

triangular graphs are indeed hard to interpret.
I used this page to help me understand them: http://csmres.jmu.edu/geollab/fichte...adternary.html

they haven't come up yet in an exam so I have a sneaky feeling edexcel will put it in tomorrow.

    no, I don't think so.
The only part of the graphical skills part where we would put in examples are in the explanation GIS, which is, of course, Google Maps.

Hi do we need to know any NATIONAL responses to climate change?
Or are we just focusing on global/local?

If we need national, could you recommend me a case study?

nope, I don't think we do.
All we need to know is individual, local and global.

speaking of local/global, what are you going to put for local responses, say if there were to be a 6 mark question on it? thanks

They are not in the syllabus?!
in the syllabus, they expect us to know the different types of data presentation and the pros & cons of each one.
for example, they may give us a bar graph of something really random survery or something & then ask us why a bar graph is the best way of presenting that specific data from the survery...

so the answer for that one would be that it's clear, easy to make comparisons, effective on recognising patterns & relationships etc.

so I'm expecting that they do something similar for another graph, possibly the confusing triangular graphs that were mentioned before. but fingers crossed they don't, and give us something easy like a pie chart instead.
