On bit of a tight budget, and short of time...so I'm stuck between these dresses for my summer ball.

Edit: Also, I'm usually a size 8 but a lot of people have recommended to me getting a size 6 when buying a maxi dress. Should I do this, or be safe rather than sorry?

I have one thats identical to the top one in black and I love it its flattering and avoids burnt backs. (now I've seen that I think I may get it in another colour)

Yes. I'm a 6 in tops. (Small bust: 32A). Its only in trousers really that I need an 8, and even then I can sometimes fit.

Go for a six, it will look better showing you heels than it draging on the floor.

I prefer the one with the straps, it looks more formal.
I'd go for your actual size, it's better to have a dress that's a bit looser than one that's just too tight.

Both dresses look beautiful, but I would personally choose the first one. However, in regards to size, I would always go for the smaller one if you choose the second one, because it's strapless and dresses which have no sleeves can sometimes slip down if they're too big! XD
