Re: Speaker Wire with 3.5mm jackBare wires, I need to solder them up to my current speakers.(Original post by mfaxford)
what does it need on the other end (what's it connecting to)?
One of them isn't working. Worst comes to worst, I'll get some cheap headphones and use that. -
Re: Speaker Wire with 3.5mm jack
If the wire is still ok you can probably get a new 3.5 plug from the likes of Maplin and solder that onto the existing cable.
If you need more cable maplin can sell that as well. You can also try the likes of RS and Farnell. They might be cheaper for the parts but you might have to have a minimum order amount. -
Re: Speaker Wire with 3.5mm jackNah, I want the entire cable up to the speaker unit. Less messing about and it'll look tidier.(Original post by mfaxford)

Thanks for the info mate. -
Re: Speaker Wire with 3.5mm jack
buying a 3.5mm plug from maplin and soldering that on should look pretty neat and it's going to be as easy to solder a new plug on as it is to solder the cables inside the speaker.
If you want a molded plug onto a cable the best option you're likely to find is canabalising a pair of headphones, but to get a decent cable you'll need some fairly expensive headphones.
The only other suggestion I've got is to put a 3.5mm jack or pair of phono sockets onto the back of the speaker so you can use a seperate cable.
