what size weights would you expect a girl to be able to do?
ive been going to the gym and using the weights on the biceps, shoulders etc but i feel like such a weakling.
what im on atm
biceps- 7.5kg
lat pull down- 32.5kg
shoulder press- 7.5kg
chest press- 12.5kg
back extension- 37.5
leg press- 50kg
triceps- 20kh
row- 27.5kg
is this about right for a girl whose only just started using weight stuff?
im aiming to increase the amount on each once i can do my 3 sets but atm thats about what im doing.
i feel such an idiot using the machines when everyone else is on like 60-70kg. -
Re: what size weights would you expect a girl to be able to do?
Who gives a ****? It's only an issue if in 6 months times you're still doing the same weight.
What do you want us to say? Oh no, that's way below average. What difference does it make if you're above or below average when you start? You can't magickly become stronger in a week just so you don't look so weak in your first few days at the gym. The fact your a girl means people are even less likely to realise if you're not lifting big.
In all seriousness, nobody gives a flying **** what you lift when you start or at any point for that matter. The only thing I pick up at the gym is **** form (or the guys who do biceps all day ery day) and impressive weights, anything else fades into the backdrop. -

i only askd so i know if im way below average that there must be something im not doing right. -
Re: what size weights would you expect a girl to be able to do?Not really. You could be below average 'cause you're a skinny bastard and didn't eat much before you hit the gym.(Original post by pinkangelgirl)

Lol @ your gender.(Original post by Aisha~~)
Well, what are you training for? Strength, muscle, fat loss?
Also your exercises are kinda vague...seeing no mention of whether they're dumbbell/barbell/cable, so even harder to judge. -

Re: what size weights would you expect a girl to be able to do?Why do you keep on creating threads about going to the gym? Just get in the gym and put in some hard work. I know this is an alien concept for most women in the gym, but actually try putting in some hard work and you will be surprised how much you can achieve.(Original post by pinkangelgirl)

Who are you comparing to with these weights? For example, most I've seen a woman chest press in the gym is like 25kg. 12.5kg isn't exactly far off that. Don't compare yourself with men, because you'll never ever be able to reach their levels with the fraction of testosterone you possess.
Like someone else says, the increase over a period of months is what matters, not how much you can lift to begin with.
