Re: History - Edexcel Nazi Germany 1918-1939 HELP!
I got a comfortable A in my exam but I hope you'll appreciate my answer anyway.

I would say the best thing would be to do loads of practice papers if you can find them. I lost marks because I rushed two of my 6 Mark answers because I ran out of time. Also, there is only so many questions they can give you, so if you do enough practice papers you might even come across a really similar question in the real exam.
As for remembering content, everyone does it differently, but I revised by highlighting my sheets, then did spider diagrams of everything I could remember and highlighted the different parts in different colours (because it helped me to remember where things were on the page and it helped me to remember the content somehow). If I looked back on my sheet and I had missed something important I would memorise it and make sure I knew it because that was something I was more likely to forget.
Also, examiners love detail. If you can remember an exact number of something (for example, how much bread cost during hyperinflation) you're more likely to get an A*. -

Re: Edexcel GCSE Modern World History - June 2012
Yeah there so much to learn - not helped by the fact i also have maths unit 1 & 2, geography and an exam on the nazis at the same time :/
Anyways, I find the best way of doing the cold war is with a timeline, or making notes on each topics under the subheadings : Causes, key features, results/consequences
As soon as i started learning from a timeline i got 100% in my practice exams, whereas the ones I did before this I did reeeealy badly - so I would suggets giving it a try.
Good luck

Re: Edexcel GCSE Modern World History - June 2012
ahh thanks!! I'm really bad at history, but i'm hoping i've improved considerably since my mocks!! I've certainly done A LOT more revision! :P haha... oohh ouch that's not good!! :/ I have physics, history and latin on the same day, but only history (germany paper) and latin clash..
IR on Friday should be ok... i'm a little worried about the 3 essays, but they're not too bad coz I'm typing the paper not handwriting, so the 2 marks and 6 makers will only take about 10 minutes put together! :L
Thanks for that tip - just out of interest, what was your previous way of revising History (before the timeline method) ?
Thanks, and good luck to you too!

Re: Edexcel GCSE Modern World History - June 2012
Yeah I find timing quite hard as I tend to write a bit too much, but our teacher has tested us soo many times that whilst I may not have enjoyed it at the time, it did mean I got used to the essays!
Umm, before that I pretty much just read through my notes from class and from the text books which I know isn't the best way to revise, but we only got two days notice before some of the practice papers so i didn't have much time.
Oh just to clarify I didn't mean that they were all at exactly the same time - just all very close to each other so it was hard to focus on all of them in great detail as I didn't get any study leave :/ But from the sounds of it I can't really complain as you seem to have had a much worse exam timetable-3 exams on the same day!
Anyway I hope that the timeline thing was of some use and good luck for all 3 of your exams tomorrow

haha only joking bout that wink lol :P
