Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012How imprtant was own knowledge?(Original post by GeneralOJB)
You can actually still get 12/12 if your explanations of all the sources are good with good evaluations. There are 14 marks to be gained, obviously 12 being the max you can be awarded, so you can still get 12. -
Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Thankyou for the reassurance!(Original post by Catching22)
Should be fine, as long as you backed with contextual knowledge.

Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Ha yes, I noticed that too! Typo? :P(Original post by Leelad)
Dd anyone else notice how question 5 was 'What is the message of the cartoonist?'
Thought it was ok, could've been better. -
Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Depends what ums you got in the coursework and exam(Original post by missat)
I found the exam okayy but i really needed more time for question 6 because i didn't go into much detail. I have an A on paper 1 and a an A in my coursework if i got a B in this paper would i still get an A overall?
160/200 is an A,and you already know your score out of /140 -
Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012
Glad Liberal reforms came up!
Hmmm this paper was ok, struggled on the essay question a little bit because i was trying to include all of the sources, probably a bit vague on some sources. Just like somebody else mentioned my main aim was just to finish the paper, timing is the key... -
Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Not the end of the world if you didn't put own knowledge, as you can get 8-10 marks, but you can get up to 2 marks for own knowledge.(Original post by Narutopolaris)
How imprtant was own knowledge?
Same thing as the message of the cartoon, it appeared in Jan 2012 paper as well.(Original post by Leelad)

Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012
Liberal Reformations was a pretty good exam. The sources were pretty reasonable too. I found the comparison of sources better than previous years sinc I could link sources together, though that's only opinion.
For the twelve mark question:
For and against and a conclusion will ALWAYS give you eight marks. Regardless of how s*** the argument presented is. However, you access the top marks by stating opinion and also evaluating sources such as:
This is more useful or reliable because... blah blah blah. Doing this will give you 2 extra marks, this will happen if you evaluate at least one source (well!)
The actual effectiveness of the argument gives you two marks, which all together gives you 12 marks altogether.
It is IMPOSBBILE to get less than eight marks if you've written:for, against, conclusion
It is IMPOSSIBLE to get more than twelve marks
For the questions with two sources (such as C+D) evaluating both sources will ALWAYS give you 5 marks regardless
The marksheme is rather generous, much more generous than the old spec.
Grade boundaries should be 35/36 out of 50- similar to last year
Hope I helped. -
Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Yes you will... although I wrote that the other source was because ti was more representative of the nation, since the novel was written only in one slum; wheras the other was collected over 14 years and was the entire of liverpool.(Original post by Sam_1996)
I put the novel was more influential for the liberal party. As long as I justify can I get near full marks?
However, there is no wrong ot right answer. -
Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Not too much, as long as you fit in like one fact of your own knowledge.(Original post by Narutopolaris)
How imprtant was own knowledge?
These are source questions -
Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012I dont think that matters. Because normally it asks what the message of the cartoon is so same thing. I hope(Original post by Leelad)
Dd anyone else notice how question 5 was 'What is the message of the cartoonist?'
Thought it was ok, could've been better.

Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Our teacher placed loads of emphasis on CONTENT and CONTEXT and said that each was as important as the other.(Original post by momo26396)

Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Are you talking about the 12 mark question? It really depends on the question. Message and purpose definitely needs own knowledge, but own knowledge is not necessary for the other questions, but nice to include for extra marks.(Original post by momanium)

Re: GCSE History OCR Paper 2 - 15th June 2012Just did the history OCR britian 1890-1918. I found it good and just wrote as much as I could although most people found the sources to be absolutely cr*p. Yeah it was for all the questions because they all say "use your own knowledge and the source". I think he wanted us to be ready to spit out everything we know and get as high marks as possible. It means you really have to write quickly and I needed an extra sheet. My hand hurts(Original post by Catching22)
