Late application for Manchester Uni PGCE. Advice plz?
I'm late applying via the GTTR due to misleading advice. I'm waiting to hear if I've got an interview at the above before I can continue applying. Anyone know how long this takes plz? And is it true they aren't keen on mature students, does anyone know more on this? Also I've yet to complete my school observation experience is this going to affect my application?
Its for a Primary PGCE btw.
Lol...can you tell I'm stressed?!Last edited by daisyloz; 31-05-2012 at 18:20. Reason: Info missing -
Re: Late application for Manchester Uni PGCE. Advice plz?
Hi daisyloz,
I applied for the Manchester primary PGCE last month. It took them about 2 weeks to tell me I was unsuccessful without interview invitation. I asked for feedback but received an unhelpful automated email response but i can tell you I am a mature student with a first class BA hons, brilliant references and just short of two terms classroom experience at 4 days per week.
so who knows what they are looking for
Best of luck! -

Joinedup - if only I could use that to tell myself it was the only reason they didn't interview me! Alas, like dozens of other providers they still have vacancies and are still interviewing until 28th june. so good luck OP i imagine they would let you know a couple of weeks before the last interview date.

Hi Daisyloz,
If anything I heard that Manchester were keener to recruit mature students for their primary PGCE, but in reality I don't think they mind either way.
Who knows what they're looking for exactly but I'm hoping to make a good impression at my interview.
I sent my application in late too, thinking there would be no chance of getting a place but thought I may as well try. I submitted it through the GTTR mid May and got a response about 2 weeks later. Interview is on 28th June and I think it's the last one for this year, so hopefully you'll hear back soon.
Best of luck!! -
Re: Late application for Manchester Uni PGCE. Advice plz?
I applied in June after phoning admissions and confirming there were still vacancies. I was told I really needed to get my application in by the 15th of June which I did but now I see the last interview date in on Thursday 28th. I still haven't received a reply which means I'm way too late. Being a mature student, with a first class honours degree in a core curriculum subject (English), and a Masters degree, I'm a little concerned that manchester may not be interested in mature students, despite their qualifications or experience (eight years in primary).
I guess the next couple of days is all I have left to wait but it's driving me crazy. -

Best of luck with your interview. I hope you get in.
I did call admissions a few days ago though I'm not entirely sure who I spoke with. They said this will not be the last interview date for 2012. Don't really know what's going on. Maybe they didn't make their numbers this year.
Anyway, no news is good news.

Just checked the MU website and it seems they have added a new interview date. Yeahhhhh! The 24th of July, so I can still hold on to some feeble hope of getting an interview.
How did everyone get on with their interview on Thursday? How were the tests and the presentation?
