Re: At the height of your career, if you were paid monthly what would you expect?
£18k a year isn't a lot, you're very modest. What do you want to do? You can't be very ambitious, unless you've missed a 0 out.
know for the career I want to do (marine biology), the maximum is £80k a year, but there's VERY few people on that and they're probably drs/profs that are head of a huge research department.
There's probably a few more on something between 30-50k which would be great, but still tricky to get to. So I'd be more than happy if I get £3000+ a month, but it's more likely to actually be around the 2-2.5k a month mark . . . and that's if I can get a job, MB is competitive. And starting salaries for junior research asistants is shockingly low for a grad.Last edited by Clare~Bear; 01-06-2012 at 16:47. -
Re: At the height of your career, if you were paid monthly what would you expect?I love threads like these, where people get negative ratings for being ambitious and others get positive ratings for expecting nothing from themselves. Between 10000-25000 a month would be decent for the peak of an ambitious career IMO, but it totally depends what you get into, finance professionals can certainly expect that if they stick with it, law and medicine should also get you within that range as well as a lot of other sectors if you're good enough.(Original post by I likewinegums)
I'm not talking starting salaries, I'm talking maximum wage, At the height of your career what wage would you expect PER MONTH (assuming it be monthly pay)
I'll start, for me, £1500 per month.

Around £50k I guess. Although it's hard to know what to expect because companies don't tend to advertise salaries, I can only really find out what I can get when I apply for those jobs.
edit - to be clear, that is £50k per year, not per month. I'm not expecting to be a millionaire

Re: At the height of your career, if you were paid monthly what would you expect?
125k a month if I become a commercial/chancery barrister.
Edit: Really, there is no reason to neg me. The chances of me getting into the commercial/chancery bar is slim to none, and that figure is the 'height' of the career, and I'm not even sure if it is before or after the 20% chamber fees + 40% tax.Last edited by zaliack; 31-05-2012 at 23:36. -
Re: At the height of your career, if you were paid monthly what would you expect?so £1,000,000 per year?(Original post by Cura)
I am currently getting paid £10,000 per month working as a PA for my parents.
So would expect at least £50-60k per month (plus bonuses) as I grow older and at the peak of my career. -

I am expecting a job where I do what I love. I don't really care about money as long as I have sufficient to eat and live comfortably.
Agreed. I'm going into Nursing, and I know I'll never live in a mansion with a ferrari but I know that I'll love going to work every day and making a difference to peoples lives. -

Re: At the height of your career, if you were paid monthly what would you expect?
At the height of my career, I would like to be in a managerial role at least in a fiancial institution.
The salaries for these roles would probably lead to a salary of around 7-8k per month at the very minimum.
To be honest though, I would be happy with just a grad job once I have graduated, that would be enough for me. -
