Holy hell! Look at the size of my...
...foot. Decided to change the title to potentially attract more views...
I couldn't be bothered to make two separate threads so I thought I'd bung it all into one.
Starting off with my foot. Around November 2011, I noticed that often my left foot would swell up. It's been swelling up ever since. I think it may have started swelling up when I started using our exercise bike. I don't do all that much exercise (or much at all really) but I go through phases of trying to be healthy and lose weight and not really sticking to it. Anyway, in November I was going through one of those phases and started cycling. That's when my foot started swelling up. It swells up when I exercise, when I've been walking or standing up for a long time, or sometimes for no reason at all. It looks unsightly and is rather uncomfortable. I've noticed that my big toe on that foot sticks out at an angle. I think it's a bunion but I don't wear heels so I don't know how I got it. My mum has one too and she doesn't wear heels either. Anyway, sometimes my foot gets painful around my big toe. Does anyone know what could be causing it to swell up? Is it the bunion or whatever it is? Also, recently, I was going through another 'healthy/lose weight stage' and started jogging. As I expected, my foot started to swell up and I got what I assume were shin splints, but only in my left leg (same leg as the problem foot). So I've stopped jogging for now. I actually have to loosen my left shoe when I put it on because it gets so swollen.
Click here for pictures of my feet - the one on the left is noticeably swollen. These pictures were taken a couple of days ago. It's not as noticeable now. P.S. I know I have horrible feet. They're really wide and I think I'm rather flat footed. I also have nasty toes. Can't change that. So, no nasty comments please. I posted two pictures. In the first one it's easier to see the toe that sticks out but you can't really tell how swollen it is. That's what the second picture is for
Right, onto my throat. Essentially my throat has been feeling odd all day, feels like something is stuck in it, but I know there isn't. Took a look just now. Not pretty. All lumpy and red. I'm assuming I have a nasty throat infection. It doesn't hurt at the moment, just feels really uncomfortable. I'm not looking forward to when it starts hurting. So, how long do throat infections usually last?
I have a photo of my throat if anyone wants to take a look. I doubt you will but I'll leave it here anyway. Just in case. Warning: it's not pretty. You have been warned.

Re: Holy hell! Look at the size of my...Deep vein thrombosis? But shouldn't the whole leg be swollen in that case? It's literally just my foot.(Original post by lbsf1)
Its looks like when my nan had a DVT on her foot, seriously go to a doctor, it swelling up that much isn't normal. -
Re: Holy hell! Look at the size of my...
Why don't you go to a doctor?
I swear swollen feat is a sign of there being something wrong with your blood/heart - which would make sense if you're overweight.
There is medication for everything these days - go get some and then keep on with the diet and exercise - don't give yourself excuses as to why you cannot exercise. -

I can't believe you haven't gone the doctors with a foot like that.
Also unless you get a hell fever or white spots on your tonsils doctors want give you anything for it so gargle salt water.(Original post by Moiraclaire)

All the afternoon appointments are booked weeks in advance and for the morning appointments you have to phone up at 8am sharp to nab one as they go really fast. My foot's not swollen like that all the time. It's usually not very swollen in the morning and what if I book an afternoon appointment (which could be up to four or five weeks away) and it's not swollen when that time comes. Wouldn't it be pointless to go to the doctor when it's not swollen? I guess I could take the photo with me just in case?(Original post by Norton1)
I love the people that come on TSR, post a picture of something that is CLEARLY ****ed and then won't go to a doctor. -
Re: Holy hell! Look at the size of my...I didn't ask for a discourse on how good or bad your doctor's surgery is. Literally everyone says theirs is bad when told to go, which suggests they're mostly just average. No one on here can diagnose you for sure, there could be 50 things giving you swollen feet. You've been given three separate diagnoses so far. Hell, maybe it's water retention from a heart condition.(Original post by inadilemma)

Go to the doctor, tell them your symptoms and see what they say. Take a photo. -
Re: Holy hell! Look at the size of my...I wasn't saying how bad the doctor's surgery is - I was merely saying how it's near impossible to get an appointment and if I did there would be a good chance that it wouldn't be swollen. I also haven't been because it's not a constant problem and hoped that if it was just an injury that it would go away on its own with rest, but it's been over six months now so I will at some point go to the doctor. I do have the photo so I'll take that when I go.(Original post by Norton1)

Re: Holy hell! Look at the size of my...I would have gone the hospital the first time my foot looked like that, or my local walk-centre at least.(Original post by inadilemma)
