Re: Do you sometimes stall ?
Once in a while! Its usually always in the same instance too! I'll be reversing thinking I'm on a level surface, in reality its a bit of a slope and I need to give it more accelerator than I am doing so it stalls. Happened a few times that way, on my old driveway, my new driveway and my boyfriend's road I never seem to stall it in normal driving *touch wood*, always when I'm faffing about doing a manouver...

When I'm in a rush to pull out of a junction. Or when I try and adjust how far/close the seat is on a hill. I hadn't taken account of gravity.

LOL! I could imagine you going up the hill in the driving test when you adjust your seat, and you fly back and the examiner wondered where you went!!

I stalled twice coming out of Sainsbury's car park the other day, and then tried to pull off in neutral  I don't normally stall! But obviously my brain decided, "hey there's tons of people around, do something embarrassing!"

Used to with my first car. It was a 1.3 1991 MK2 Golf. Couldn't take the skin off a rice pudding unless you really hammered it all the time. Heaviest clucth in the world, and I used to stall it most times when parking on the drive.

My current car is a 306 2.0 Turbo diesel. So that has much more torque. Pulls off on tickover, and will pull off easy in 2nd gear with some revvs. HEAVEN compared to the above. Next car will be an Audi A3 tdi, so just as nice I will assume

I saw a good one when I was following a learner driver. They stalled SEVEN times, on SEVEN light changes at a junction. I was half lolling, and half feeling sorry for them. They must have felt so embarrassed!

My Dad's a driving instructor and stalled when showing me how to start the car ;-). (He was using me as a test for his first solo lesson, and was very nervous). The point is, it happens to everyone, and most of the time it's no big deal as long as you take a deep breath, turn the engine back on, and get moving again slowly and calmly. It only tends to be an issue if you're like me and panic.. I won't stall for months and then I'll do it once and I'll do nothing but all day!

Yes. I've been driving for 2 years and stall occasionally. The reason I came to this thread is because I stalled today at a roundabout. It was the first time for a while though.

Well my driving instructor was rather amused.

Yeah, I passed my test almost 3 years ago and it happens occasionally, nothing to worry about.

Yep, normally when I'm turning round at the back of the house. Managed to repeatedly stall a tractor with a 16 litre engine as well, and that thing had enough torque to spin the world!

Been driving for almost 3 years, and stall once every few months, usually if I am in a rush or something. Its no big deal really.
Same here, i stall on the odd occasion, like once every few months, for example if ive had a new car and am getting used to it. I just carry on like normal and dont let it get to me, its no big deal.
