    Problem with student finance application
Hello, I need some advice/help in regards to my Student Finance application.

I first started my application back in November 2011, sent them everything they had asked for such as mothers financial evidence, evidence of single parent (25% tax reduction, which was apparently adequate).

Anyway, all was well until I noticed it was taking such a long time to process my application. I decided to ring them and find out what was taking so long, and I spoke to a woman who told all my information had been received but for whatever reason she claimed the tax form thingy (I honestly have no idea what it is, I just let my mum deal with it) didn't show the single parent reduction. Anyway, my mum went back to the local council who insisted it is definitely on there, they even showed her where it was on the form. Even I saw it straight away when I looked at it.

So again I decided to ring them again, only this time to be greeted by a guy who told that from what he could see all the information I had provided should be fine, it was just yet to be processed. He also told me if it still hadn't been processed within a week to ring back. Surprise, surprise.. a week later, still nothing! I did however receive a correspondence note, with the evidence my mum sent in, sent back to us (why? Is this normal procedure)

This time I was really frustrated and decided to ring up again. This time, a third guy told me that he had looked at my evidence and could clearly see the single parent tax reduction, and couldn't tell me why the original person told me it wasn't there. Again, concluding that I should just wait now for it to be processed.

Today, I received an email telling me that my application had been processed without my mothers finance, claiming it hadn't be received. I'm really confused, has anyone else been through a similar situation? Also, what should I do about it?

    Thanks.

Honestly. Student Finance are just crap. They are so badly organsied, which is a great thing to be when you're sending in important doccuments! This has happened to me AND my two brothers. The only thing you can really do is to keep ringing and telling them what's happening. It's a complete and utter pain, I know. But it's the only way they actually get their act together if you get on their case about it.

Thanks. I plan to keep doing so until it is once and for all sorted, even if it does mean I receive my finance slightly late.

It took my brother a whole year to receive his.. :P But he didn't phone up and bother them. I was having the same problem as you so I kept phoning them up a couple of times a week to see what they were doing with my application. Thankfully, it's finally been processed and for the right amount. Just don't trust what they say, basically. :P

Thanks. I'm mainly just worried it will effect my bursary from the university, which is apparently based my my high grade predictions but I won't receive it if my household income isn't below a certain boundary, they will get this information from my Student Finance application.
