Halfway through applying to Student Finances will it help towards getting paid ontime
Ok so i left Student Finance stupidly late, i had an exam today and for the past week it's all i've been focused on.
I'm on the 6th Section now called "Your Parents", i live with both parents on different days of the week because they are separated, i don't really want to get this part wrong so i was wondering if registering and being on the 6th Section on the deadline will count towards getting paid on time.
I'm planning on maybe finishing it tomorrow rather than rushing to get it finished before 12, i don't want to enter the wrong information.
Also if you receive EMA which i do, i receive £30, should you click the section to take household income into account for the student loan part? I clicked it and that's why i need my correct parents income which i don't really want to rush.
Thanks -

If I was you, instead of saying you live at both parents seperately, just pick one. And pick the the one who earns least. If the one you pick earns under 41k a year, then you're entitled to a 'maintenance grant' this is like the student loan, but you don't have to pay it back. Thats the only reason for declaring your parents income. If for whatever reason both your parents earn above that. then you can just not decalre income and finish the app.

It's too 12 and i really doubt that i'm going to finish this tonight, if i finish the application by lets say the start of next week, how late do you reckon i will get my student loan? days/weeks/months late? I don't really mind getting it late i have savings so i will be fine for the start of uni if i don't have it, i just don't want to leave it too late. -
Re: Halfway through applying to Student Finances will it help towards getting paid on
I wish I could say but I'm on a delayed schedule aswell! I finished my application last week but i'm sending off my evidence tomorrow. I've read around alot about it, as I'm concerned aswell and from what I've read some people say they applied late and it came ontime, others said it came a few weeks late. One person said they applied in july and it came december time, where as another said they applied in july and it came ontime!? So it does seem really hit or miss... My suggestion is to get it all done for sunday before the bank holidays. Your dad will have to give his financial earnings from last year and his National Insurance number, he can do it online through your Student finance account if you like, thats how mine did it.
Hope this helps

Re: Halfway through applying to Student Finances will it help towards getting paid onYeah what you said helped ALOT, what is this evidence part though? Been on alot of threads and people have been talking about sending off "evidence" aswell, what is that?(Original post by Niceneasy)

Do you do that at the end of the application, is it like sending of a copy of your birth certificate, financial records etc? Yeah i read that too, it's a bit of a hit and miss, it really just depends on how many people left it late. If most people met the deadline then sending it off a couple days late will be fine, because they can easily process it, but if half of the UK sent it off late there would be delays etc and you won't get it on time.
Yeah i was wondering that aswell, i read some question of someone saying they chose to enter there household earnings and each parent had to make a whole new account on student finance, how do i do it so he is just entering his details on my one and not making a completely new account? -
Re: Halfway through applying to Student Finances will it help towards getting paid on
You get prompted for evidence once you complete your application/details. It literally is that birth certificate and a declaration letter. They send you a declaration letter to fill out or you can print one off there and then. Be aware you will need a 'civil servent' to sign as a referee on your application, so old teacher, friend of family thats been in the army etc. My status on student finance says
*************
'Application being processed'
'we are still wait for your evidence, if you have sent it and havn't heard from us in 20 days please contact us'
*************
So they're obviously pretty lax about the whole thing, 20 days! I'm guessing with the bank holiday their offices are gonna be pretty busy and mass confusion anyway, so the odd letters being received a couple days late should be fine.
It asks you whether you want your parent to make a new account or to do it through yours, and it isn't a big deal if they make their own, it's not a whole lot to fill out, not like we have to. They just fill out one page.Last edited by Niceneasy; 01-06-2012 at 09:37.
