WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012
How did everyone find today's paper? I thought it was really quite different to previous papers, but not too bad overall as long as you knew your stuff.
I have for once taken the paper away with me so might be able to help with the answers / write up an unofficial markscheme, though will need the help of others for answers as I'm not too sure about some of them.
I messed up on 1b) because I rushed it. I wrote the integral of e^3 as e^3 / 3 instead of e^3x. Might still get a method mark for splitting the integral up though.Last edited by Astonix; 01-06-2012 at 10:50. -
Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012would it not be just splitting the integral to e^3 x e^x^2 and then taking e^3 out because its just a number the doing e^3 x the integral of e^x^2?(Original post by Astonix)

Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012Yer, I think you can do that too.(Original post by radardetector)

Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012
I felt it went pretty good, they included some odd arrangements especially with the counter example, although I used 2 different value for each variable.
Q10 was easy although I dropped a mark by not putting +- 2
Q9b (i) was the only real one I considered having a problem with, for some reason i couldn't get x by on its own as it was multiplying the y, if only i'd take x out as a common factor -.-
Q1b i didn't have a clue to do, should have practiced them style questions in hindsight, I added 3 to the answer for part a haha :P -
Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012Yeah, that's what I did, so you just multiplied e^3 by your answer for a, right?(Original post by radardetector)

I got f^-1(x)= negative root of (3-5x/x-1) ??(Original post by idigdn91)
for finding an expression for f^-1 my x values cancelled which i know isn't right, what did people get? :/
What did everyone get as the Range of f in question 9? -
Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012Product Rule, let u=5x^2 v=sin^-1x(Original post by clubs93)
Yeah i got (-1/2,8) as well. what was the differential of 5x^2sin-1? -
Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012I think I had [0.6,1) as the range, as the f(x) was (x^2+3)/(x^2+5) and the domain was [0, infinity)(Original post by ThreeCheers)
Yeah, that's what I did, so you just multiplied e^3 by your answer for a, right?

Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012for the parametric i think if i remember correctly I had -atanax or something similar to that.. for counter example i put theta=0 and the other one equal to 5, both of the equations were proven wrong so i'm guessing I did the question right!(Original post by radardetector)
what did everyone get for the parametric question, i got like -tanx (or whatever the variables were? also what about the proof for counter example. i put feta = 90 and alpha = 270 and got it i think - didnt get it till the last minute though! -
Re: WJEC C3 Mathematics 1/06/2012yeah i did(Original post by ThreeCheers)
