Train ticket dilemma
Hi,
My issue is that I bought an advance train ticket for today to travel at 17:07 but I wont be able to make that train now due to work commitments, so I was wondering If I could catch a later train today because my ticket says Off peak return....if anyone could clarify this for me it would be much appreciated.
Thank You -
Re: Train ticket dilemma
Your best bet is to call the company and make sure. Sometimes they let you change the times if your ticket is an advanced fare. I think you should be ok with an off peak return but you'll have to check that the train you are now able to catch is not in peak time :P
Like I said, best bet is to call them, they'll be able to help. -
Re: Train ticket dilemma
I'm confused if you bought an advanced ticket your ticket can't say off peak return...it would say advance ticket set train only. In this case no you couldn't travel on a later train. Though some people do risk it and get away with it if they don't check your ticket.
If you mean you bought an off peak return and reserved a seat on the 17:07 but can't make it, that is fine and you can travel on any off peak train. -
Re: Train ticket dilemmaYes this is what I've done....My ticket says Seat reservation, Just out of interest how do I know if its advanced or not I booked it last week I think, also usually if I book an Advcanced ticket I usually have the option to print as an E-ticket however in this instance it wasn't the case so I'm assuming I dont have an advanced ticket.(Original post by Boo_x)

You should have one ticket which says seat reservation, and another which is just the ticket(Original post by mathslover786)

Look under the ticket validity bit on the actual ticket (not the seat reservation) and if it is advance it will say booked train only and in the route bit it will say something like virgin trains only, then the seat reservation will confirm the time of the train you've booked on. If it's an offpeak/any time it might say offpeak or as advertised..i can't remember which.
I spend far too much time on trains
