Please can anyone shed some light on this?
Been going through some annoying crap lately...

first of all i called my insurance choice to ask a simple question about my offer, they want 240 points with atleast CC in science, i asked if they would allow me in with just CC as my other subject is not science related, the person on the phone was very rude, however i got my answer in the end.

So a few days after i was wondering if i can use my A level i got last year to get the points required for my offer as i have retaken my last year, so i thought instead of calling them i would just drop and email. This is the email i sent:

    "Hello,

I have a question in regards to your offer to study Pharmacology, your offer requires me to obtain 240 points, my question is:

Can i use my grade for Applied business which i gained last year, it is a grade from a full Applied A level not an AS, so i would use the following subjects to obtain the entry requirements, Applied Science Double, Btec National Travel and Tourism and Applied Business."

    To which someone replied:

Hello and thank you for your email.
Btec National Travel and Tourism and Applied Business would not be accepted as they are not science subjects.

This pissed me right off, because the offer i recieved from them said:

240 UCAS tariff points with grades CC or above in your A

level Double Award in Applied Science

i accepted the offer under the impression that i can get in by obtaining CC in science and make the rest of the points up from Travel and Tourism. My predicted grades for Science are BC which im on track to getting. but this is really annoying me now as from what was said in the email i cant fullfill the offer unless i gain 240 points from just Science which they should know i cant as Im predicted BC in science alone..

Im sorry for the long thread but Im starting to panic now as i have no back up apparently please could anyone help me on this situation and tell me what you think i should do next...

    Thank you

I would have interpreted that in exactly the same way as you. Ask them a question to the extent of 'so the only subject I can use towards this offer is applied science?' and see what they say, because an offer of 240 including at least CC in applied science doesn't make sense if that is the only subject they'll accept.

Don't pin your hopes on it, but I would imagine either they've got the wrong end of the stick or haven't written their response in a clear manner.

    You're welcome.

    Something along the lines of:
Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify, am I unable to use the A-level applied business and BTEC National travel and tourism qualifications at all in meeting this offer, or can they be used in conjunction with at least grades CC in A-level applied science?
I realise it's asking them basically the same question, but I wonder if they've skim-read your e-mail and thought you were trying to use the applied business/travel and tourism instead of the applied science rather than as well as. Therefore, laying out the two options (can't use at all versus can use together with applied science) should hopefully get you a clearer answer.

EDIT: Just read your post above. Glad it's sorted, and that it was a misunderstanding.
