Just been for a little look at my University.
I have just been for a drive around, and a little look aound the grounds at Chester Uni...

I had already accepted my unconditonal offer back in January (I think it was, or maybe December?) but hadn't been to visit. There was an open day last Saturday, but it clashed with my son's football presentation day, so I didn't go. Anyway, I had been a bit curious as to what it looked like, and wanted to suss out the parking situation etc

Well, I was extremely surprised and pleased. It is lovely, really tidy and seems a lovely area, there is a canal running alongside it too.. it looks really relaxing and I am even more excited and impatient now.

    Just had to share

We are the same we accepted our unconditionals back in Dec and we have not visited, I am visiting my college on Wednesday morning and the university academic department during the afternoon, my wife is visiting her department at Newcastle on Wednesday afternoon too. We have been to Durham before as we spent a week at the uni in 1986 on an OU mathematics summer school, we met the previous year on the science summer school at Keele uni. We have a hotel booked for Wednesday and Thursday night as Thursday is our 26th anniversary and we will go out for the day on Thursday with our cameras, new area means new pictures. We will heading back to Northants, via Lancashire to collect the kids, on Friday.

    Sounds fantastic.
My husband did a residential at Durham too, about 4yrs ago, he loved it.

What cameras have you got? I just bought a new camera this year, although I am not very good with it just yet and funnily enough, don't find much time to practise lol.

I hope you both like your universities.

Thanks. Glad you like yours too. We chose our courses based upon the modules available, the options available, etc. That was the most important factor. We both had offers from York and I also had an offer from Newcastle, my wife had an offer from Northumbria but course content is the key even over the convenience of being at the same institution, providing we were not at opposite ends of the country....which would be a little impracticable.

Cameras, my wife has a D5000 and a D90 and her own lenses. I have a D7000 and a D300S and my set of lenses Our youngest daughter also has a D5000 and a couple of lenses. (we can borrow off each other as they are all Nikon mount) Eldest daughter has a P100 and an S3100.

Our lads are not really into it and have Sony compacts and I also have a 2004 vintage Sony compact which I still use. The lads are not left out as my wife and I both flyfish and the lads share that with us.

I chose my university based on distance lol. It is the closest, with the next closest being Liverpool Uni's. Obviously with all the kids I wouldn't move so applied for 5 english courses at Chester, I got 5 unconditional offers so just had to choose the course I wanted. It didn't really matter to me what the University was like, but I am relieved to see that it looks lovely.

My camera is a Panasonic Lumix FZ45 this is my first dslr and I really love it, just hoping I can find more time with it really lol.
