I have finally saved the money to afford my perfect first car, but what should i get?
I want something quick but safe, easy to modify and not to expensive on the insurance. MOst importantly it has to look the part. Any suggestions and tips would be much appreciated!

    Ford Focus.
It's safe, not got a bad top speed if you want to take it to the track. The insurance is a bit high but not out of reach.
Plus since it's a ford you'll have more parts to mod from than you can imagine.

You're planning to 'modify' but claim that a Ford Focus is too expensive on insurance? Good luck on that one mate :lolwut:

I would just save your pride for when you're actually out of sixth form and earning proper money and just buy the usual. 1L Polo/Fiesta/Micra/Corsa etc.

    chk this website out http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-chooser-launch
according to what you've specified i think you should be looking out for hatchbacks most of them are certainly quick and their size allows you to have complete control over it also the sky is the limit when it comes to modding hatches im nt to sure about the insurance though you would have to check that out yourself

You'd probably get much more helpful answers if you were more specific about your requirements.

How much money have you saved up? How much are you willing to spend on insurance? People have different perceptions of what's cheap and what's expensive.
