Which cheapest smartphone allows me to do the same things?
Obviously all phones have the basics such as calendar, notes, calculator etc.

I want a phone that allows me to do the same things as these:
    Skype, MSN, Ebuddy
    Google, Yahoo
    BBC Iplayer, BBC News, CNN
    Facebook
    Currency Exchange
    MP3
    Ebay
    Sometimes YouTube

These are the main things that I generally use practically daily almost.

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy but it's abit too expensive for me to run. I'm looking for the most cheapest phone that allows me to do all the above on Pay As You Go preferably.

Any techy people out there who can help?

Surely... if the Galaxy is too expensive to run you're on a contract which means that by getting a new phone, you'll still have the previous contract. Unless your contract has run out... in which case just go PAYG on your current phone.

I'm not on a contract at the moment. I'm on PAYG.
When I say expensive to run, what I mean is that it is not worth having such an expensive handset when I am not bothered about what it looks like to people. Also, having an expensive handset costs me on maintenance with time and effort. I have to clean it more often and make sure I prevent it from damage etc. I just feel quite restricted with the handset I currently have and I find it uncomfortable - My opinion anyway.
I am just interested in having the functions that I mentioned above being done.

OK, but you're going to need a similar handset to do all that. How ever you do it, to do all that you'll need either Android, iOS or Windows Phone 7. Either way you look at it, you need a smartphone to do all that. Nokia 3310s just ain't gunna cut it! :awesome:

Which Galaxy do you have? If you have the older models (Samsung Galaxy S) then I think you should stick with it.

You probably won't find a cheaper phone that can do as much as that phone can - especially as you already have the phone in your hand, why spend more for a new phone?

The way I see it for mobile phones, and quite obviously, the more you pay - the more you can do.

My current phone is a pretty low end HTC (wildfire s) however even though it's cheap it doesn't even offer BBC iplayer (skype etc. I'm not too sure about, but I doubt it offers that either).

So, in my personal opinion - unless money really is a MASSIVE priority in terms of saving as much as you can, then just spend that extra. If you see yourself with the same phone for a while, consider the HTC sensation (around £315 sim free) that can offer all of that.

I was in The Carphone Warehouse and the guy asked me what I used it for. I may have skipped out the BBC Iplayer etc. but I did mention social networking platforms etc. He said I could do with just an Android phone and one costing less than £100 would do. I just do not know which one to go for because I'm not really good with phones to start off with. I've managed to sell the phone I currently have. I just thought as long as the phone can have Applications downloaded and Android, then I can do the basics such as email, social networking, listen to music.
He quoted the cheapest phone on PAYG to be around £40.

I'm not sure if a £40 would suit all your needs either though, however I don't have much experience with those types of phone (because they are pretty much for calling and texting).

If you want to listen to music you'll also need a decent memory if you want to store songs - again, that isn't too cheap. Scrap this, and I would have suggested the HTC wildfire s.

I saw a £7.50 a month deal in Carphone Warehouse, pretty decent minutes and texts, with a free Samsung Galaxy Ace. Over 24 months that'd only cost you £180, here's the link:
