I'm not a fan of porn but I imagine blocking it would lead to even more rape cases due to deprivation. It's a natural need.

Taking into consideration other societies, Saudi Arabia for example, where the government forces ISPs to block all porn sites, since which, the sex crime stats appear to have gone up. Coincidence?
we are talking about blocking it so as children are not able to view it I imagine nobody is talking about a ban for everybody

    Why so defensive about pornography?
Cause I dare say he watches some kind of porn along with the vast majority of the population.

So even if you could show a direct causal link between the two you'd say that?
Irrelevant as such a thing doesn't exist. Its the same dumb argument that people try and made about violent video games.

I don't think anyone in the world has been arguing that 12 year olds watching hardcore porn is okay

.... People may not have been arguing that, but the fact is that it happens. And it's not the cause of things like this.

The real issue is an increasing number of kids coming from homes with god ****ing awful parents that should have been sterilized and have absolutely no place in bringing up a new generation of humans.

I was referring to the Daily Mail's retarded suggestion. I believe it's on the article OP linked to.

Yes, certainly it shouldn't be made available to children, but where would you set the bar... "Age" is very debatable. For example, you can get married at 16, go to war at 17, lose an arm and go sit in a pub, ask for a pint and be rejected service because you're not 18 yet. See what I mean? It's all a bit jumbled up.

Another thing, most young teenagers would hit puberty at 11-13 years of age, but you can't have a public figure representing ISPs/the government saying "Yes, anyone aged 12 can watch porn". It's very, very debatable.

Well sorry for engaging with the situation he appeared to be proposing.

I see little point in anyone engaging in a debate that isn't based on anything more than tabloid sensationalism.

There speaks a man who can't bear a world where his porn supply might be threatened.

    Yeah.

It's the same with violent movies > actual violence.

I think the freedom to watch what you like is more important than the protection of stopping rape.

It's like blaming women for being raped. Porn doesn't cause rape, rapists do.

But I asked you to consider a situation where there was a provable causal link between the two things. I was putting forward a question where the situation was that porn did encourage people to rape. I would say that if that situation didn't cause someone to reassess its availability that would be a slightly worrying attitude.

I would consider that there is at least going to be some attitudinal effect in someone watching 'ghetto sluts' getting their 'pussies destroyed' (and thank you to whoever posted that earlier) Not probably amongst the nice middle class users of TSR but the thing is that normalising things does lead to people thinking they're acceptable. When no one considered wife beating or drink driving to be offensive people did it. The latter -at least - has declined significantly due to a change in the attitudes of the public at large.

typical rubbish from the daily mail believing that placing restrictions on porn will instantly bring down rape  A 12 year old knows what is right and what is wrong, it would've been more than watching porn to motivate him to rape.

Unless the government raids my HD I can assure you my supplies are perfectly safe.

I can't really decide whether you were saying that as an attempt at an insult or not, either way I really can't say I'm bothered.

I don't think porn CAUSES rape, but I guess it can trigger it or 'inspire' it for want of a better word. What I mean is, I think it has an influence.
For example I have struggled with eating disorders in the past and find the media, EG superskinny models, diet shows etc really unhelpful and even triggering. I don't think they have CAUSED my eating disorder but they definitely haven't helped.

I feel the same might be true of porn, and I'm not a massive fan of it personally, in essence there's nothing wrong with it but some pretty sick things can stem from porn, eg rape which is apparently 'acting', hardcore S&M, I don't think things like that are healthy. Just my opinion.

Schoolboy was copying acts he had watched online, court hears.

His lawyer warned that the case was just the 'tip of the iceberg', with many others going unreported.

judge spares the child rapist jail.

why do people say unregulated hardcore porn over the internet is harmless?

If the judge believed it, the kid rapist would be in prison.

Even at that, I still blame the individual rapists.

It would be wrong to discriminate against law abiding porn watchers.

While on death row in his last interview, Ted Bundy said that watching hardcore pornography was a key factor in the killings of several innocents.

Maybe it can influence people to an extent, but I'm not sure.
Just a vain attempt to excuse some seriously depraved ****. In fact, i'd argue that without the pornography he'd have become a rapist and murderer earlier.

This myth is one of these pathetic fallacies thrown around by tabloids and nosy do-gooders who should be more worried about their own perversities than those of others.

Sex is at the centre of the human psyche, and this kind of behaviour (and sexual sadism in general) far predates the existence of hardcore pornography. Human history is rife with examples of what happens if men are given absolute dominion over women. It is of no coincidence that female torture seems to revolve around rape, with inordinate focus on mutilating their genitalia and other sexual areas.

We still live in a world where in Iran a female virgin cannot be put to death, thus she is raped by the revolutionary guards in prison so that she can be (legally btw) executed. What the f*ck does this have to do with porn?

Don't worry though, the same retards that want to ban porn are most probably the same morons that preach cultural relativism in regards to Iran/Middle East.
