Am I too skinny?
I'm an 18 year old guy. I'm 5 foot 3.5 (Yes, I know I'm very short), and I have a 30 inch chest and 26 inch waist, and I weigh 7 stone. Everybody tells me I'm too skinny, but it feels so natural to me that I just can't think of being any other way. Should I do something about this, and if so, what should I do?

Re: Am I too skinny?I eat toast for breakfast and eat dinner in the evening. I don't eat lunch because I'm never hungry at lunch time.(Original post by Elle333)
It depends Do you eat 3 meals a day and eat when you feel hungry? -
Re: Am I too skinny?

Re: Am I too skinny?Perhaps go to a doctor, seek their opinion, if they say you're too skinny, then perhaps move from there.(Original post by Flyteryder)

Re: Am I too skinny?Your BMI is around 16.7 which is below the lower end of the 'normal' limit (18.5). Although you would be currently classed as underweight, if you gained 5 more kilos you would be on the normal part of the scale.(Original post by Flyteryder)

I wouldn't worry about this too much , perhaps see a GP and see what they recommend. A more balanced approach to daily eating might sort it out. -
Re: Am I too skinny?
Regardless of your height, I'm pretty sure males our age are supposed to get at least 2500 calories a day. Eat some lunch! My girlfriend used to have a bit of a problem with not wanting to eat food because she just "didn't feel hungry". It's hard at first she says, but once you start eating three good meals a day you apparently feel a tremendous improvement in energy and liveliness!

Re: Am I too skinny?
That's very unfair, and if you were an American girl, I'd accuse you of being anorexic. As it is, I am concerned. Do you play aports and stuff, or exercise regularly, because that can keep you from gaining weight, but if you only eat 1&1/2 meals a day(toast by itself is not a meal), that isn't good, because you end up starving yourself without realizing it. If you eat more, your body might have enough energy to grow taller.

I don't play any sports (I hate all sport), and I just never feel hungry I don't know why. -
Re: Am I too skinny?
You have a BMI of 17.1, a BMI of less than 18.5 is considered underweight so technically yes you do have a problem.
Start eating more.

Re: Am I too skinny?
I think going to the doctor's is the best thing to do. You don't always know just from measurements whether you're too skinny. He can take your blood pressure and see what percentage fat you have and all of that too, ask you all the right questions, and then give you advice on your diet and exercise regime, if you need it. That's what they're there for!

Re: Am I too skinny?Unfair, I eat healthy, exercise, and can't seem to stop gaining weight and/or being hungry. You never are, and don't have to do anything.(Original post by Flyteryder)

Re: Am I too skinny?
i know i'm an 18 year old girl and it's slightly different but i'm 5"1 ( i know TINY) and just over 6 and a half stone, but i'm heatlhy. I was 3 months premature when i was born and my mum was 4"10 giving birth to me, so maybe it runs in the family? But you def need to eat more. I eat like a bloody horse and i never seem to put on weight ( high metabolism or something) could be that? As long as you are not completely starving yourself, but not over eating you should be fine
